FESTIVAL IN BULA
Bamboo Festival
o The Bamboo Festival is celebrated every month of December to showcase its
economic significance for being the town's primary local grown product.
o The town of Bula is known as the Bamboo Village of the South due to its abundant
supply of bamboo. The Bamboo Festival is celebrated every month of December due
showcase its economic significance for being the town’s primary local grown product.
Bula got its name from the Spanish conquistadores who set foot on the land around
1576 and saw men splitting bamboos. They asked the men of the name of the place.
Since they cannot understand their language, they thought that they were being asked
about the name of the bamboo. The men answered them, “Bu-la.”

St. Mary Magdalene Parish
o St. Mary Magdalene Parish is the patron saint of Bula in honor of her; the town’s fiesta is
celebrated during her birthdate every 22nd day of July. Considered one of the oldest
churches in Bicol, the Parish of Saint Mary Magdalene in Bula was founded in 1578.
Holding its historical stories of faith and devotion throughout the years, the church
stands still and firm as it continues to be the home of people who have the same faith,
beliefs, and devotions. The church is active in serving its people and parishioners.
Throughout its existence, from its foundation up to the present, the church shows native
to modern external and internal constructions. The design captures the heart of people,
and the overflowing faith captures the heart of people.
Tan-Awan Park
o Wake up early and climb up for the cold morning breeze, the lovely panorama of Bula
and its neighboring towns and the perfect sunrise that speak romance at Tan-Awan. It is
home to the statue of Our Lady of The Family where pilgrims and devotees often go and
visit along with their prayers and faith. It’s the best place to witness the sun as it rises
behind three of the most astonishing mountains (Mt. Asog, Mt. Mayon, and Mt. Malinao)
alongside the famous Mt. Isarog, spreading light to the calm province with promise of a
new day.
o The Tan-Awan Park is a pilgrim site with 35 ft. statue of Jesus Christ which resembles
the Christ Redeemer in Brazil and Our Lady of Holy Rosary (Queen of the Family) which
also resembles the giant Mary statue of Our Lady of Peace Grotto in Caramoan.
Nalalata Falls
o Nalalata Falls has an impressive gush of water providing a cool mist and spray to the
area. The falls has an approximate height of 60 feet. Water streams down to a pool
basin that is good for swimming. The water is clean and cool. At both sides of the falls,
there are two caves that can be explored. The falls is located in the town of Bula,
Camarines Sur.
o Nalalata Falls is popular for its enchanted waterfalls with a naturally beautiful rock
formations, clear blue-greenish water, caves and it is covered with forest trees and
shrubs that boost the enticement of all the nature lovers. The resort is now one of the
most visited tourist spots in Rinconada area and is considered as one of the most
beautiful falls in Bicol region.
o There is a wealth of pleasure waiting to be experienced in the town’s pristine hideaway
that has enchanted many visits. After an excitingly pleasant nature hike, you will be
rewarded with the calming view of the Nalalata falls with its graceful cascades of water
flowing down. Truly, it is among the most beautiful in the world.
