Blind Stick

The document describes a "Smart Blind Stick" innovation that uses sensors and electronics to help blind individuals safely navigate their environment. The stick includes an ultrasonic sensor, camera, and buzzer to detect obstacles in the person's path and alert them with sounds. It works by using ultrasonic waves to sense objects ahead and notify the user with a beeping buzzer if any obstacles are detected, helping blind people avoid injuries or navigate independently. Pushing a button on a remote control also causes the stick buzzer to sound to help locate the stick if misplaced. The system aims to provide better awareness of one's surroundings to visually impaired individuals.

➢ PROBLEM STATEMENT: IOT: INTERNET OF THINGS
Designing a solution to improve the life of blind people.
➢ INNOVATION TITLE – SMART BLIND STICK
The idea behind the smart blind stick is to give the blind person a better
understanding of the path he is moving in. We achieve this by using a
camera and a few ultrasonic sensors. The stick, with the help of a
camera, detects the obstacle the blind person is approaching. Smart
stick for the blind is a device for the visually impaired.

• How it works - The blind stick is integrated with ultrasonic sensor

along with light and water sensing. Arduino Smart Blind Stick
Project requires two separate circuits. One is the main circuit
which will be mounted on the blind man’s stick. The other is a
small remote RF transmitter circuit which will be used to locate
the main circuit. Project first uses ultrasonic sensors to detect
obstacles ahead using ultrasonic waves. On sensing obstacles, the
sensor passes this data to the microcontroller. Pressing the
remote button causes a buzzer to sound on the stick, assisting the
blind person in locating their stick. This technology detects
obstacles and locates the stick if it is misplaced by a visually
impaired individual. Any obstacle in front of a blind person is
detected using an ultrasonic sensor. The Smart Blind Stick scans
the path in front of it with the help of an HC-SR04 Ultrasonic
sensor.
• Whenever the sensor detects any object in its path the buzzer
starts beeping and also at the same time the LED turns on.
• The blind person can hear the beeping of the buzzer and manage
to change the way. In this way, the person can easily find his way
without getting injured.
