Personal Effectiveness Report
Introduction
Through the application of positive psychology and positive thinking, personal
effectiveness has been increased. The study of personal effectiveness is becoming
increasingly rigorous and scientific, taking into account a variety of factors that
directly affect it. For various groups of people, there may be variations in the method
used to measure personal effectiveness. It could use methods for managing business
processes or a wholistic strategy for personal growth on a physical, mental, and
spiritual level. Effective individuals make greater use of their advantages. They make
use of them to accomplish their objectives and adapt effectively and economically.
Effective interpersonal relationships depend on knowing to which group a person
belongs. Effective leadership requires more than simply a job; it requires a complex
combination of personal and professional qualities and experiences. Effective
leadership is built on a learning paradigm that uses personal reflection to enable and
increase understanding before directing action. This study explores the idea of global
leadership and lists the skills that are required. This research looked at the impact of
Google CEO Sunder Pichai's personal effectiveness, as well as how these attributes
might be leveraged to foster personal growth. Covets 7 habits are analyzed and
personal assessment has been performed.

Global Leadership Competences

In order to properly carry out their duties, leaders need a certain set of aptitudes and
competencies.  These competencies are traits and abilities that affect a leader's
effectiveness. Local and global leaders share leadership responsibilities and skills, and
a global leader can cope with complexity and variety (Thorn, 2012).

Global Strategic Thinking

A global perspective is required to think strategically about how to run your

organization and hire top international personnel. Your capacity to do so is greatly
influenced by years of high-level networking all over the world, as well as the ability
to understand how various components of multinational organizations operate on a
global basis. To make strategic decisions for a company, one must have hyper
awareness of global business environment.
Case study Sunder Pichai’s

The idea for Google Chrome was developed by the company's CEO, Sunder Pichai, a
15-year Google veteran. He has proven his leadership skills in running the firm. He
started off his journey in 2004 as head project manager in 2004 and made his way all
over to the top (Shepherd, 2020).

Positive characteristics and impacts

1. The idea for Google Chrome came from Sunder Pichai, who also introduced
Chromebooks and Chromecast, which made it possible to link smart gadgets to TVs.
The bulk of smartphone users used Internet Explorer as their default browser, but as
Android-powered devices proliferated, Google Chrome gradually took its position. He
wanted these Android phones to be sold in the market and used AI to increase
diversity (Zhang et al. 2018). Twitter and Microsoft apparently offered him high-level
posts. Sunder Pichai decided to stay at Google, and the company eventually promoted
him to CEO. As a consequence, when Sunder Pichai opted to continue in his existing
job and was finally compensated by Google, there was evident dedication and
devotion on both sides.
2. Given his familiarity with Google's dynamics, Sunder Pichai can regulate them. He
was effective at avoiding workplace conflict. Despite the fact that Google is a massive
organization with a lot of organizational politics, he was able to lead teams to success
by negotiating politics while keeping the influence on other teams to a minimum
(EMC leaders, 2017).
3. Sunder Pichai has also received praise for his team-building skills. He enjoys a
positive reputation among Google staff members for being a confident communicator
of his views and opinions.

Negative behaviors of Global Leaders

To boost morale and ensure that employees respect the company's basic principles,
executives must set a good example. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
Leaders may conduct or behave in ways that set a terrible example for their team on
occasion. It is critical that they address the problem and find a solution, even though
they are usually unaware of the negative consequences of their actions. Many leaders'
practices and routines are so embedded in them that they are unwilling to alter or
entertain innovative thoughts, even if doing so might benefit others. They are
thorough and perfectionists, which makes them outstanding at their jobs but difficult
to work with since they continuously point out other people's flaws and make their
subordinates feel inadequate and undesired. A truly great leader must be adaptable
and willing to change, often at the expense of their own comfort, in order to protect
the safety and well-being of others (Forbes, 2022).

Negative characteristics and impacts

1. Android One was created in response to the fact that billions of Indians will be
using telephones. It is a simplified version of the smartphone operating system
designed for low-cost devices. Despite the project's failure, Sunder Pichai argues that
the initial draw was from the business possibility. As a result of the controversy and
criticism that his Dragonfly project caused. It was said that he is constantly searching
for new methods to better assist clientele from different nations (economictimes.com,
2021).
2. Google has terminated the Dragonfly Project, a limited search engine. Sunder
Pichai, Alphabet and Google CEO, remarked that while his business is interested in
developing more Android One mobile devices, a strategic shift is required for
Android One to succeed. As a result of their previous refusal to collaborate with
MicroVAX, Xiao and One Plus are now competitors.

Theoretical frameworks

Covey’s 7 Habits

Covey's Seven Habits, which were developed by Stephen Covey, are renowned for
improving the lives of those who follow them. How it is put into practise will
determine whether this idea is successful. It claims that knowledge, talents, and
motivation are the three crucial factors that must be taken into account in order to
build habits. Adhering to this paradigm, which asserts that people should take care of
their lives and be proactive rather than blaming others, leads to personal
accomplishment (Rodriguez et al. 2021).
Habit 1: People take accountability for their acts and do not blame them on their
upbringing, environment, or education. People that are receptive are impacted by their
surroundings. Rather than allowing events beyond their control to negatively impact
their performance and behaviour, they find motivating reasons to motivate
themselves, which enhances their performance and behaviour.
Habit 2: The second step is to examine long-term goals. They must remain focused on
their goals and never forget what is most important to them. According to Steven
Covey, cerebral processes take precedence over physical ones when it comes to
organizing actions (Covey, 2013). Everything is built on the idea that anything can be
changed. Sunder Pichai established Google Chromes as a product of his
understanding of the value and need of technology. Both Google and the many
millions of customers who depend on them profited from this. People must make sure
that the outcomes of their imagination and creative endeavors align with their own
beliefs and guiding principles.
Habit 3: When it comes to the third habit, make guidelines and employ discipline.
People must be able to deny requests in order to set priorities for their activities. Self-
sufficient people are better positioned to focus on opportunities rather than obstacles.
Habit 4: It emphasizes the need of determining situations in which cooperation would
be advantageous to all parties. It is quite advantageous to establish alliances when
pursuing personal goals, and it is essential to pay attention to others.
Habit 5: People should first strive to comprehend others by listening carefully , since
this will make it easier for them to communicate their own ideas to everyone.
Listening with the goal of understanding someone on an emotional and cognitive level
is characterized as empathy.
Habit 6: It highlights the importance of cooperation in maintaining organizational
coherence and driving advancement via interactions with others.
Habit 7: Self-assurance, intellectual and emotional growth are the most significant
parts of personal efficiency.

Self evaluation test

Outcomes of the self-evaluation test and a list of the significant deficiencies

By examining one's own skills and behaviors, self-assessment tools can assist people
in recognizing their weaknesses and overcoming them. The exam results may be used
to help individuals analyse and evaluate their own personal decisions in order to
identify tasks and career options. The five evaluation criteria for a personality test,
named as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, neuroticism, and
agreeableness(Schröder et al., 2021) .The capacity for complex and sophisticated
cognition is defined as openness. High degrees of openness have been linked to
intelligence, creativity, and adventure. They should be enthusiastic to discover and
learn new things. People with low openness, in my experience, tend to be more
traditional, sensible, and afraid of novel behaviour. To practise self-discipline, which
is how people achieve their goals, requires conscientiousness. These individuals are
regarded as organized, and in order to succeed, they put their attention on long-term
objectives. Low scores typically cost more and increase the likelihood of failure.
Extraversion, according to Jingwen (2019), is the aptitude to be gregarious and
extroverted. Others praise these individuals for their attitude since it enables them to
engage with others and build connections. Lower than normal extraversion scores
point to an introverted personality and a personality disorder. Another personality trait
known as agreeableness is the propensity to put other people's wants before one's
own. These characteristics encourage cooperation over competition between people.
Another important factor that affects a person's capacity for unpleasant feelings
including fear, sadness, guilt, anxiety, and humiliation is neuroticism. These
unpleasant feelings are more likely to be felt by certain persons than by others. These
assessments show strong openness along with average conscientiousness and
agreeableness, simultaneously lower extraversion and neuroticism levels.
Table 1 Big five personality traits test results

Personality Trait Score Attributes

Openness High Lack of focus and practicality
Conscientiousness Average Easily distracted
Extraversion Low Poor communication skills
Agreeableness Average Empathetic and Good listener
Neuroticism Low Can handle difficult situations
without panic

Effect weaknesses

This personality characteristic, which has a higher than normal Openness score,
indicates persons who are interested in art and cultural issues. High test results also
suggest that I could have trouble being realistic and that I should give learning about
various cultures and hobbies priority. Conscious people must strike a balance between
their immediate and long-term objectives. According to the test results Longin,
Hruška and Sedinić (2021), who claim that my below-average conscientiousness
score is an issue, I am easily distracted and lose concentration on the present. Low
extraversion ratings, in my opinion, may suggest a difficulty with communication
abilities as well as personal and professional growth.Being introverted prevents you
from experiencing the excitement that comes from achieving goals and objectives,
which might make you feel uninspired to achieve and unable to work in a team (Breil
et al. 2019). Introversion is characterized by feelings of loneliness and a lack of
enthusiasm for social achievements. According to the test findings, agreeability is a
significant, above-average personality attribute. Less likeable people are more likely
to be confrontational and aggressive. Yao and Li (2020) define agreeableness as the
quality of having a sympathetic disposition and the capacity to comprehend the
worries of others. Low scores might be a sign of empathy deficit. It also demonstrates
how much more potential there is for conflict in this setting, which might lead to
disagreement with others. I can handle potentially risky circumstances without being
too careful thanks to my lower-than-average Neuroticism level, and I bounce back
from negative feelings more quickly than persons with higher Neuroticism scores.

Areas of Improvement

1. My main area for development is my poor extroversion. As I lack excitement and

energy, completing any assignment becomes tedious for me. I feel lonely and isolated
because I am socially involved in the outside world.
2. Another issue I had to focus on in order to interact with my team and supervisors
was poor communication. Because I lack communication skills, I regularly struggle to
explain my thoughts to my subordinates and coworkers when working in a team. It
was difficult for me to express my concerns and seek for help, which made it difficult
for me to focus on my performance. My performance suffered as a result, as seen by
the personality development outcome.

Plan for Improvement

1. To increase my extroversion, consider fresh approaches to my work, and disrupt

my routine, I need training in creative and critical thinking. I must create effective
developmental strategies that will enable me to enhance my abilities while also
assuring improved teamwork if I don't want to work alone.
2. I must improve my communication abilities in order to engage with my team, team
leader, and superiors. Since I lack communication skills, I have difficulty speaking
with my superiors and coworkers while I'm on a team. Furthermore, communication
made it difficult for me to seek for assistance and provide accurate information. I
found it tough to communicate my concerns and request help, which made it difficult
for me to concentrate on my work. My personality development's results also showed
how it impacted how I performed. It has been challenging for me to gather
information and pose appropriate inquiries to a variety of sources because of my poor
communication skills.

Measures of Improvement

1. I may measure my performance by focusing on how quickly I finish my tasks while

reducing monotony. I must evaluate my coworkers' feedback on my performance as
well as the several priorities I have for my job. I must also assess my personality
development using a range of online questionnaires to establish how active I am in
socializing with my coworkers (Riyanti and Sandroto, 2016).
2. Finding out what my supervisors and teammates have to state about me can assist
me determine how far I've come. I may also check my memory development by cross-
referencing my lecturer's or more experienced students' notes. The correctness of my
inquiries, the weight I give them, and the techniques I use to answer them may all be
utilized to assess my communication skills. In order to judge my development, the
other team members must be respectful of me and provide comments. My active
listening talents may also be tested in connection to decreasing communication issues
in order to evaluate my communication ability progress (Yilmaz et al. 2017).

Conclusion

Personal effectiveness has an impact on both personal and professional life and helps
people build positive self-image. Sunder Pichai, the CEO of Google, is renowned for
his intelligence and personality. He is well-known for his abilities in math,
technology, and design. I give a personality test as well as tips for development.
These anticipated advancements may aid my professional development and increase
my chances of finding a better job in the future. Low extraversion and
conscientiousness scores on personality tests are stumbling blocks to personal
success, job growth, and personal development since they imply a lack of strength. I
will be able to interact with the other team members on my team more successfully
and create a collaborative atmosphere with the right information flow if I concentrate
on honing my communication skills. Effective communication is necessary for long-
term team success, thus this is important for my professional development. As seen by
my commitment to providing high-caliber performance output, communication and
cooperation go hand in hand. I must locate my centre and assign the proper task-
oriented duties there if I want to be focused and in control of my activities.
