Four Kinds of Sentences


Declarative sentence - A declarative sentence tells about something. It ends with a period. ( . )
Example: 1. These are all beautiful flowers. 3. Bees are attracted to flowers by sight and smell.
2. Rafflesia is the biggest flower in the world. 4. I love the weather today.
An interrogative sentence - asks something. It ends with a question mark. ( ? )
Example: 1. Where's my notebook? 3. Why do we need to drink water?
2. Have you seen my red bag? 4. Why is it so hot today?
An exclamatory sentence - shows a strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation point. ( ! )
Example: 1. Yes, I won the game! 3. Ouch, my head!
2. Yay, I got the highest grade in class! 4. Run, there's snake!
An imperative sentence - gives a command. It ends with a period. ( . )
Example: 1. Wash the dishes. 3. Clean up the mess.
2. Do the laundry. 4. Please put this on the table.

Activity 1: Read the sentence. Identify if it is declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, or imperative


sentence. Write your answers on the blanks.
