Report 13 05

Mr. Siddharth Dewan, age 34, underwent an MRI of his left ankle which found evidence of calcific deposits at the insertion of the Achilles tendon with mild swelling and inflammation. The Achilles tendon measured approximately 8.4 mm in diameter. No fractures or lesions were seen. The MRI findings were suggestive of calcific Achilles tendinitis. Clinical correlation was advised.

NAME: MR.

SIDDHARTH DEWAN AGE / SEX: 34 Y/M

REF BY: DR. VISHWADEEP SHARMA DATE: 18.03.2023

MRI LEFT ANKLE

STUDY PROTOCOL

MR imaging of the left ankle was performed on a Siemens 3.0 Tesla scanner using a dedicated 32-channel
phased-array surface coil. Following sequences were obtained.

FINDINGS

There is evidence of calcific foci at the insertion site of tendoachilles with mild subtle PDFS/ STIR
hyperintense signal changes in the distal tendon. AP diameter of tendoachilles measures approx. 8.4 mm.

Rest of bones under view are apparently normal in contours and marrow signal intensity, with suggestion of
subtle focal fatty changes. No evidence of any articular surface erosion is apparent.

No definite focal osseous or soft tissue lesion is apparent on non-contrast imaging.

Anterior/posterior talo-fibular, calcaneo-fibular and medial deltoid ligament appear normal in MR signal
intensity.

Visualized joint spaces appear relatively preserved.

OPINION: MR findings are suggestive of calcific achilles tendinitis.

ADVISE: CLINICAL CORRELATION.
