Introduction
This is the list of 146 atlases found in pages 2–9 of the list called, Withdraw
Part 1. I do not know how many were removed or kept on the catalogue
(moved elsewhere). Clearly, some of those volumes are of less interest than
others and the need to cull the collection would apply to them. How does
one decide?
I decided to check 26 titles of interest to me—mostly in ancient or mediaeval
history, see their whereabouts, and whether they could still be consulted
in one format or another. I entered their title into UCSC title search and
into Melvyl. Results: 1 available online; 8 still on S&E stacks; 17 left no
trace—65% in this sample. The titles I inquired about are in the first list
just below.
