Motivation Letter

The applicant is motivated to apply for a position in the MSCA Doctoral Network NANOREMEDI. They have experience researching and developing nanomaterials, including silver nanoparticles and electrospun nanofibers for drug delivery. Currently, they work characterizing functionalized nanomaterials using various analytical techniques. They believe the ERS project on manufacturing composite vascular grafts aligns with their interests in composite nanofabrication and biomedical applications of nanomaterials. Additionally, their background in medical textiles and experience with wound dressings would benefit the research. The inclusive education system of EU universities also motivates the applicant, as they have been disabled since childhood but remain committed to continuing their studies independently.

MOTIVATION LETTER

With this letter I would hereby like to express my motivation to apply for ERS position in MSCA
Doctoral Network NANOREMEDI.
I graduated from National Textile University in Pakistan with a four-year degree in Textile
Engineering in 2015. In the final year project, I worked on silver nanoparticle-loaded nonwoven
textile fabric for antibacterial application. Working on nanoparticles initiated my interest in the
mechanistic understanding of Nano-technology.
Right after graduation, I started working as a research assistant in the medical textile research
group for a year. I graduated with a master’s in advanced materials engineering from the same
university in 2019. During my master’s thesis, we characterized the oral drug delivery system using
PEO electrospun nanofiber technology. We have successfully developed Nano-fiber-based drug
delivery system for pediatric and geriatric patients. It was a great experience to learn the basic
drug delivery system and then the modern tools for the benefit of human health at a larger scale
which further made me enthusiastic about Nanofiber technology.
Currently, I am working as an engineer at National Textile Research Center, my primary duties is
characterization of functionalized Nano materials using advanced analytical methods SEM, XRD,
FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR, DSC, and Dynamic light scattering (DLS). My area of responsibility also includes
the synthesis of functionalized nanofibers for a variety of applications. These technical expertise
and background knowledge served as the real impetus for my decision to pursue a PhD.
Applications for nanomaterials in regenerative medicines have demonstrated an exceptional
impact and satisfy the health needs globally. ERS project # 7 “Manufacturing of composite
electrospun vascular grafts for regenerative purpose” is one of the project that aligns with my
research interests because it may give me the chance to apply my expertise in composite
nanofabrication and characterization. My experience as a laboratory engineer in material
characterization, as well as my background knowledge of medical textiles, will be extremely useful
in this research project. Apart from that as a research assistant my practical knowledge in the
preparation of wound healing dressings can act as a helpful companion during my future research
work.
At the age of two I was affected badly by polio in both of my legs and grew up adapting to life on
crutches. Despite this difficult situation, I did not give up hope and ironically committed to
continuing my studies and research work on my own. I am really impressed with inclusive
education system of EU universities and their commitment to providing equal access and
opportunities to disable researchers. All these attributes are source of motivation for me to
pursue my doctoral studies in this research programme.
The strategy behind the idea of the MSCA doctoral network attracts brains to transform into highly
skilled research force, stimulate their creativity, enhance their innovative capacity, and boost their
employability in long term. At its core, the Marie Curie doctoral network encourages
communication, dissemination, and leadership qualities by providing networking activities,
interdisciplinary exposure, workshops, and public engagement relevant to the project. I strongly
believe that my doctoral research experience under MSCA programme can open up new research
directions and lead to later stages of research that ultimately produce a significant product that
can meet the market's health needs.
