irresponsible persons was one of the causes of a widespread flooding
resulting to the massive lost of lives and properties. However, some

remedy to this arising problem. Among the solutions are the conduct
of information-dissemination campaign on the importance of trees and
proper waste management to avoid massive floods. Another one is by
encouraging the youth to join tree planting as one of their yearly

Let us now discuss how to write a paragraph showing problem-solution
relationships by answering the following questions:
1.What is a problem? What is a solution?
2.What is a problem-solution paragraph?
3. What are the things to remember in writing a problem-solution paragraph?
4.What words are used to signal problem-solution relationships?
Problem is an issue between individuals, among groups, or an issue going
on.
Solution is a means of solving a problem or dealing with a difficult situation.
A problem-solution paragraph identifies a problem or problems and
recommends plausible solution/s.
In writing a problem solution paragraph, you have to:
1.use a topic sentence to explore the paragraph's main idea and
the problem that will be explored;
Example:
Deforestation is done by some irresponsible persons.
2.Provide a description of the problem for the reader; and
Example:
Deforestation causes a widespread flooding resulting to the massive lost of
lives and properties.

3.provide a description of the solution/s for the reader.
Example:
Some non-government organizations conducted immediate actions as initial
remedy to this arising problem.
Use transition words to make it easier for the reader to understand ideas.
These are clue words that signal problem-solution relationships.

The kissing of the hands or “pagmamano” is a Filipino culture that is
performed as a sign of respect to elders. This is considered as one of the
most treasured traditions but is now threatened to vanish or disappear.
Therefore, the Araling Panlipunan Organization in DepEd, Division of San
Jose City, has conducted a program that aims to restore and preserve this
gesture which is one of the values of the Filipinos. The group came up with
the following solutions: First is the conduct of monthly activities to enhance
values restoration which will be integrated in some learning areas which
involves grade one learners. Another solution is the collaboration of parents
and teachers in providing guidance and monitoring of the activity. In
pursuing this purpose, we bring back the gesture of “pagmamano” which is
considered a treasure for Filipino children to be valued and be proud of.

Obesity is caused by so much fat intake from a variety of
foods. Some parents are not aware that obesity is a serious health
condition among children that needs to be addressed. This problem
has complications that may affect children’s growth and
development. However, in school, the solution to this problem can be
addressed through the joint program of DepEd San Jose City and the
Local Government Unit. These are through parent-teacher orientation
in school which is to impart knowledge regarding the unhealthy
condition. Another is the serious school monitoring of nutritional
status of children to identify who are already suffering from the said

people concerned has something to do to achieve its goal which is to
