Curriculum Framework
A. Curriculum Goals

The EPP/TLE and TVL are geared toward the development of creative and critical thinking skills, entrepreneurial skills, desirable personal
values, work values, and lifelong learning skills. These provide learners with essential knowledge and transferable skills that are applicable to
their personal lives and success in learning life and work. (Manitoba 2018: Curriculum Framework). It also focuses on technological
proficiency and mastery of skills and processes.

Furthermore, it provides learners with basic skills (Grades 4-10) and training in specific trades and industries (Grades 11-12) that will help
raise their family economics as well as contribute to the national economic goals. The SHS TVL graduates are being prepared for the world of
work aligned to their chosen field of specialization.

The revised EPP/TLE & TVL framework shows the uniqueness of this learning area which recognizes the importance of the goals,
theories for teaching and learning, education principles, and how it will interplay with the area components, support systems, feedback
mechanisms, and curriculum exits.

Grade 4 to Grade 6
EPP/TLE/TVL Components

Agriculture and Fishery Arts (AFA). This is one of the four components of TLE and TVL that introduces the basic competencies in
planting, animal raising, and fish farming in Grades 4 to 8. It also consists of specializations equivalent to TESDA qualifications under
the agriculture and fishery sector. Learners taking the Agriculture and Fishery Arts sector for Grades 9 and 10 and specialized subjects
for Grades 11 and 12 will be able to demonstrate competencies using available technologies on farming, raising animals, culture and
capture of fish and other fishery aquatic resources, food and preservation and processing. Schools that offer these specializations must
have adequate facilities and resources to strengthen the acquired competencies that will make the learners ready in engaging with
Agripreneurship and the World of Work.

Family and Consumer Science (FCS). This is one of the components of EPP/TLE and TVL that deals with human development,
personal and family finance, housing, and interior design, food science and preparation, nutrition health care and wellness, home
management skills, textiles and apparel, and consumer issues. Formerly known as Home Economics (HE).

Industrial Arts (IA). This is one of the four components of TLE and TVL that introduces the basic skills and principles in product
assembly that is made from assorted local materials like wood, bamboo, and metal using a variety of hand or power tools, machines,
and equipment. This helps the learners understand the concepts involved and be able to use the job functions of various trades such as
repair, construction, and development of electrical projects following the safety precautions.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT). This is one of the four components of TLE and TVL that introduces the basic
skills and principles in Hardware, Networking, and Software. It stands for information and communications that makes use of
technological tools and resources to create, disseminate, store, and manage information. These technologies may include but are not
limited to computers, internet and access, smart electronic devices, and broadcasting. This component consists of specializations
equivalent the qualifications of TESDA under the Information and Communications Technology sector. Learners specializing in ICT
shall be able to apply competencies to seize opportunities in the field.

The EPP/TLE and TVL curriculum aims to:

1.1 improve learners’ knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes through quality and effective delivery of the basic, common, and
core competencies;

1.2 equip learners with certifiable, and relevant skills, gauged through an authentic and timely assessment, that shall make
them locally and globally competitive and productive citizens;

1.3 develop among the learner’s proper self-care and home management;

1.4 provide an avenue for learners to explore and apply aspects of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for
sustainability;

1.5 develop the skills of the learners aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 21st Century Educational
Framework;

1.6 strengthen Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills that shall enable the learners to cope with the
advancement of technology;

1.7 provide guidance for learners on the career path to take such as post-secondary education/higher education,
entrepreneurship, middle-level skills development and employment; and

1.8 prepare learners for Eligibility, National Certification, and/or Global Certification.

In order to achieve the goals of TLE and TVL, it is important to utilize the needed support systems, as articulated below;

1. Hyflex Teachers (Hybrid and Flexible) are those who are flexible and capable of delivering the necessary competencies of TLE & TVL
through various modalities such as face-to-face, online, in the printed module, and/or blended. For junior/senior high school teachers
who are highly skilled and with at least minimum qualification of NC II relevant to the subject being taught.
2. Learning environment and resources. The use of standard tools, machines equipment, facilities, and learning environment and
resources aligned with the curriculum standards.
3. Assessment and Exits. Standard assessment guides aligned with the curriculum standards of TLE & TVL.
4. Relevant Partnership and Linkages. Recognizing the significant participation of the community stakeholders, industry, government, and
non-government organizations to help the school in delivering the standard competencies for TLE & TVL learners, work-related
experiences, and possible employability.

EPP/TLE shall be offered from Grades 4 to 6, TLE for 7 to 10, and TVL track with four (4) components for Grades 11 and 12. For Grades 4
to 6, learners shall explore basic competencies while Grades 7 and 8 learners shall also explore the common competencies of the TLE
components such as Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Agriculture and Fishery Arts (AFA), Family and Consumer

Science (FCS), and Industrial Arts (IA) with the integration of entrepreneurial competencies. For Grades 9 and 10, emphasis is on the
selection of core competencies, or the fundamental skills offered in sectoral specializations. For Grades 11 and 12, learners shall finish the
required number of hours with options from any of the specialized subjects offered in TVL Track.

B. Key Stage Standards

The learner demonstrates the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes (KSVA) in Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), which will
enable him/her to gain employment, become an entrepreneur, middle-level manpower, and/or pursue higher education.

Grades 7-10 The grade 7-8 learners demonstrate an understanding of the basic and common competencies in the TLE
Exploratory in the components of Agriculture and Fishery Arts, Family & Consumer Science, Industrial Arts, and
Information and Communication Technology

In grades 9 to 10, learners demonstrate select technical core competencies from different sectors in the TVL
specializations.

Entrepreneurship is intensified through integration across all components.

Grades 11-12 The learners demonstrate mastery of the specialized technical skills as preparation towards: Higher Education,
Middle-Level Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Employment which will enable them to obtain eligibility, National
Certification, and/or Global Certification.

4 Naipakikita ng mga mag-aaral ang pagkaunawa sa mga pangunahing kaalaman, kasanayan, pagpapahala, at saloobin
sa Agrikultura (pag-aalaga ng mga halamang pampalamuti, gulay, at mga namumungang puno), Information and
Communications Technology (nakapagsasagawa ng mga pangunahing pagpapatakbo ng computer at paggamit ng mga
kagamitan sa pagiging produktibo), Family and Consumer Science (pagpapanatili ng kaayusan ng tahanan) at Industrial
Arts (pagre- recycle ng mga pinaggamitan at/o pinagputulan), na nagbibigay kakayahan upang mapabuti nila ang
pansarili, pampamilya, at pampamayanang kalagayang pang-ekonomiya.

5 Naipapakita ng mga mag-aaral ang pagkaunawa sa mga pangunahing kaalaman, kasanayan, pagpapahalaga, at
saloobin sa Agrikultura (pag-aalaga ng Poultry Animals), Information and Communications Technology (desktop
publishing, electronic mailing, internet navigating, at online conferencing), Family and Consumer Science (pagkukumpuni
at pagtatahi ng mga pambahay na linen), at Industrial Arts (pagpapahusay sa mga recycled, pinaggamitan, at/o
pinagputulang sangkap at pangunahing pagpapanatili ng mga muwebles at kagamitang de-kuryente sa loob ng bahay) na
nagbibigay kakayahan upang mapabuti nila ang pansarili, pampamilya, at pampamayanang kalagayang pang-
ekonomiya.
