• Summary Narrative:

In the modern day, people have more in common with each other and the "internet
world" than ever before. Personal issues are typically at the heart of disputes over people's
rights and privacy. With the proliferation of digital traces, there is a growing consensus
that internet users need to take more precautions to protect their privacy. As our reliance
on the Internet grows, so does the risk of attack from hackers and cybercriminals, who
may compromise personal information. It's important to point out that cyber fraud is the
fastest-growing kind of crime in the world today, with the potential to destroy the Internet
as we know it and deny people everywhere access to information. Hackers have more
opportunities than ever before. They've been there ever since the first networks were built,
but now there's a chance they'll spread like wildfire; to stop them, we'll need to work
together, just as we did to stop previous pandemics. It's not that dissimilar from how it
dealt with medical epidemics in the past. In order to combat cybercrime and other forms of
privacy and freedom invasion, members of society need to be more alert and accountable.

Individuals' rights and liberties, both online and off, should be protected by privacy
and security measures. Collective and individual efforts, like in previous epidemics, are
needed. Certain infections may be contained if enough individuals choose to remain inside,
practice good hygiene, and/or become vaccinated. Viruses and malware may compromise
our digital personas, therefore it's important to treat them as such. Everyone benefits when
more individuals take preventative measures against malicious software and spear
phishing. By preventing unauthorized access, you may stop the spread of malware and
other computer viruses. There will be one less thing to worry about in your online
interactions. While I believe that individuals' willingness to accept responsibility for
protecting their own data online is the most essential factor in reducing cybercrime, I
acknowledge that governments and law enforcement agencies also play a role. We live in
fascinating times because the United States lacks rules governing the acquisition and use of
personal data and because only a small number of other nations have enacted any kind of
privacy act, legislation, or effort.

There have been various Supreme Court rulings in the last 50 years that protect our
right to privacy. There's the never-ending argument over the National Security Agency
(NSA), the push for more openness by internet companies, the rise of medical identity
fraud, and even Google's Street View cable. In all of the major conflicts, from the fight for
racial equality and women's suffrage to the fight for equal opportunity in the workplace to
the fight for universal health care and marriage equality and immigration reform now,
public participation and government discussion have been critical. A legislative agenda to
advance society emerges in the end. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research
Institute this summer, 86% of US residents take some kind of action (such as clearing their
cookies, using email encryption, or hiding their IP address) in order to remain anonymous
online. A further striking statistic is that 50% of Internet users are concerned about their
personal information being publicly accessible online, up from 33% in 2009.

Researchers found that over half of the college students interviewed in the research
were highly worried about their privacy when it came to their internet data. Data breaches,
hacking, and other forms of data concern have continued to be a problem since 2009,
according to another report. The realm of minors should not be allowed to be the
contributors of this violation if we want to prevent this widespread attack and fortify
ourselves against these data breaches. Avoiding this requires more than just installing anti-
virus software; it also requires active engagement in debates about risk avoidance and the
judicious use of passwords. Doing so is not just self-protective, but also a moral obligation
to ensure that all people, and particularly future generations, enjoy the same benefits.

What lesson have you learned?

From the article we chose, I've learned a lot that I shouldn't forget and should keep in my
mind and heart. I've learned that we should never be careless about what we do on the internet
because it could hurt our privacy and safety. Educators and students must be especially careful
not to let anyone know their passwords or anything else that is important to their everyday lives.
I will never forget that because sometimes I was too careless and too sure of the things I did and
said on social media that could hurt and put me in danger. This article made me realize that I
should never do those things again and let my fellow teachers and students know the same thing.
Both data privacy and security are very important. It is also important to follow proper data
security protocols to help stop cybercrimes by making sure that details, especially banking,
addresses, and contact information, are secure to stop fraud. Implementing data protection
policies not only helps prevent data breaches, but it also protects the company from excessive
administrative risks, lack of customer confidence, and possible losses to brand credibility. I want
to teach and be able to show them that knowing about data privacy and security is important and
necessary as we go through life, because it is our job to protect the Internet environment not just
for myself but also for the people who will use it in the future.

What suggestions can you offer?

Our advice is to continue reading, to be responsible, and to be a person who is active and
prepared. DON'T STOP READING, in the sense that we must read all the material offered to
ensure that our privacy and security will never be compromised on the World Wide Web. It is
essential that we never restrict our reading and quit being overly sluggish about reading things
that we know have value and help us. Second, BE RESPONSIBLE; recognizing your obligations
and being a responsible person will never place you in a position where you might be harmed or
damaged. If you embody the concept of being a responsible citizen, you will never find yourself
in circumstances that are detrimental to you. Lastly, our recommendation is to BE ACTIVE
AND READY. This is, in our opinion, the most important step we should take to ensure that no
one will attempt to make you the next victim of the problems encountered on the internet. Being
active and prepared ensures that your privacy and security are indeed in the right place,
regardless of what transpires. Privacy and security are among the things that should never be
taken for granted, and it is not too late to act.

Task:
In the panel forum, I as a future teacher
1. I learned that since data privacy and security has always piqued my interest, I know that as a
future educator it will be my responsibility to educate my students about the topics that will help
them become well-informed citizens in the digital age. There is an obvious and present
connection between data security and data privacy, and there are a variety of methods for
handling both effectively. Data security, as a refresher, refers to the measures used to prevent
unauthorized parties from gaining access to sensitive information stored in electronic form. Data
protection conforms with state and federal regulations inside and even outside of the
organization, while data privacy is vital for ensuring that the data you collect and the methods
behind processing and what you do with that data are lawful. The items I've listed above are just
a small sample of what I've discovered. In addition, several ICT concerns must be taken into
account since they are quite important to our everyday life. Because of how helpful this is to me,
I am certain that I will soon be able to make a significant contribution to my pupils in this area.
In today's era of big data, personal details have become a valuable commodity. Citizens of all
ages, not just kids and teens, should remember that although they may be the customer, they are
also the product while engaging in online activities, particularly when utilizing social media and
search engines. Privacy and security are intertwined with the concepts of rights, freedom, and
responsibility; teaching these concepts to children from their first experiences online is crucial.
Users who are prepared to face the hazards and difficulties of the digital world are better
equipped to avoid harm, preserve their privacy, and ensure the long-term viability of their digital
pursuits. Education may go a long way toward nurturing the necessary abilities, despite the fact
that it is almost impossible for people to retain complete control over their personal data in the
modern environment. In order to be a responsible member of the digital community, you need to
know why websites ask for your authorization to store cookies on your computer, and what those
cookies are used for. It is vital that we be aware of this, since we are all responsible for creating
and ensuring that these things occur; without unity and cooperation, these problems will never be
resolved permanently. As a result, I will be able to properly and correctly explain the issue to the
pupils I will instruct in the future, as well as share my expertise with my other educators.

2. Realized that we must all be prepared to assume collective responsibility for defending
ourselves against escalating threats to our online privacy and freedom, as well as ICT-related
challenges. Importantly, I understood that selecting more vigilant passwords, limiting where,
when, and with whom you communicate personal data, and utilizing a VPN to protect your data
whenever you go online are simple measures that everyone can do. As aspiring educators, we
must inspire our students to be watchful and engaged at all times, and to be more conscious of
the difficulties we are now experiencing. In order to be a responsible member of the digital
community, you need to know why websites ask for your authorization to store cookies on your
computer, and what those cookies are used for. Citizens should be allowed to choose whether or
not to share requested information, should be informed of the data's intended use, and should be
given a chance to opt out of sharing. Each individual has the right to be informed about the
collection, use, disclosure, and retention of their personal information, as well as the means by
which they may exercise those rights. Governments, educational authorities, families, and
children themselves all have a role to play in protecting online privacy and security as part of
digital citizenship education. Adequate preparation for the rights and duties of digital age
citizenship begins with a solid, well-implemented multi-stakeholder privacy and security policy
in society and integrated in the school curriculum.Since blockchain technology shows
tremendous potential in addressing the aforementioned problems in the areas of privacy, data
protection, digital identity management, and cyber security, it might also be introduced to the
curriculum.Your right to choose how, when, and why people use information about you is vital
to protecting your privacy and maintaining your security. To preserve human worth, security,
and freedom, privacy must be guarded. It promotes the unrestricted development of individual
character.
3. Plan to Share, Enact and Adopt the things that I learned and realized about this issue, and I
also intended to write some long-lasting notes so that I may utilize and learn from it in the future.
I also intended to create a little organization that demonstrates how to resolve similar
circumstances, which might assist individuals who are grappling with this issue. I will also use
social media to get the word out about this issue, since most people, especially college students,
use it almost every day. Through this, they will be aware of how to use technology and social
media platforms and will know how to do so. Through creativity, it's common knowledge that
students pay close attention to what you publish online, so go ahead and attempt to grab their
interest in a lighthearted way. I plan on making a few of privacy-themed parody films and
drawing up some memes. People, particularly students, are more inclined to forward my writings
to their friends if they find them engaging. Finally, this will help more people understand why
it's so important to protect their personal information. I am aware that it will take time to do this,
but I aim to inspire and encourage others along the way. I aspire to do so and aim to make it
feasible.
