PMF2112 CASTING AND WELDING LABORATORY
COURSE OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to
CO1: Acquire practical knowledge on the fabrication, testing and characterization of castings and
welded joints.
CO2: Analyze the casting and welding experimental results using statistical tools
OBJECTIVES:
To perform molding and casting operation for sand casting based on the prepared pattern.
To analyze the quality of moulds and castings products by sand casting operation.
To understand the various joint configuration in welding and to study the effect of welding
parameters on joint characteristics.
To evaluate the mechanical properties of aluminium castings and welded joints.
To gain practical knowledge the microstructural characteristics of cast products and welded joints
LIST OF EXPERIMENTS:

Fabricate aluminium flat tensile samples as per ASTM E8M standard using sand casting process

Fabricate aluminium flat tensile samples as per ASTM E8M standard using gravity die casting
