Course Description This course engenders communication proficiency in advanced academic and professional settings where texts/messages are negotiated,
interpreted, and expressed appropriately using context-specific spoken and written registers. Glocal issues are taken up to highlight the
ubiquitous nature of communication.
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to:
1. describe the ubiquitous nature of communication and arrive at an understanding that communication takes a relatively varied
meaning based on context
2. explain how glocal issues affect communication in its different modalities to determine culturally appropriate terms,
expressions, and images
3. write academic/professional papers and present ideas persuasively considering the rhetorical situations of purpose, audience,
genre, stance, and media/design
4. adopt cultural and intercultural awareness and sensitivity in communicating ideas
