Hydrotest Procedure

This document outlines procedures for hydrostatic testing of a lube oil cooler and gland condenser. It specifies responsibilities, required tools, testing steps, and documentation requirements. Key points include: - The Fabrication Manager is responsible for conducting the test according to the procedure. The QC Manager monitors the test and checks results. - Tools used include pressure gauges, temperature gauges, a chart recorder, hydrostatic test pump, and calibrated tools. - The test verifies identification markings and supports. Clean water with corrosion inhibitor is used as the test medium, heated to at least 30°F above minimum design temperature not exceeding 120°F. - Two pressure gauges connected at high and visible points

1.0 SCOPE
This proccdure is applicable to hydrostatic test to be conducted both at workshop PT. Air Surya

Radiator and at site / customer premises

2.0 REFERENCE
2.1 ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1
2.2 API 661

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 The Fabrication Manager shall responsible for performing the hydrostatic test in
accordanee with this procedure.
3.2 The QC Manager shali responsible for monitoring the hydrostatic test and checking the
test results
3.3 For hydrostaie iest at s:te, the site Project Manager will perform the work for the
Fabricatei M a r ar the Stte QC Inspector will perform the work for the QC Manager.

4.2 Temperature (iauge
4.3 Chart Pressure & Temperature Recorder
4.4 Hydrostatic Test Pump
4.5 Tools Calibration Certificate

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Checking of the Coded marking
5.1.1 Hydrostatic test shall be a QC hold point
The QC inspector shall check and verily the identilication marking on the vessel.
5.1.2 Supports such as scaffold shall be of proper type to ensure safe inspection. In
order to be able to inspect all the welded joint, on
supports shall be placed on or
over any welded joints of the vessel.

5.2 Fluid Media and Temperature

5.2.1 Hydrostatic test water shall be clean, treated with a corrosion inhibitor, and shall
be heated, if necessary, until the metal temperature of the shell will at least equal
the minimum temperature given for the
exchanger material in Table UCS-23.
For stainless steel itens the chloride content of water used shall be limited to 50
ppm. The exchanger shall be drained and dried after the hydrostatic test.
5.2.2 The metal temperature during hydrostatie test shall be maintained at least 30 °F
above the minimum design metal temperature
5.2.3 The metal temperature shall not exceed 120 °F, to minimize the risk of brittle
fracture.
5.2.4 The test pressure shall not be
applied until the exchanger and the pressurizing
medium are at about the same temperature.

5.3 Pressure Gauges

5.3.1 Two dial-indicating pressure gauges shall be used in testing exchanger. One is
connected directly to the highest location of the exchanger for correct indication
of the test pressure. The other one is connected where it will be visible to the
operator throughout duration of the test.
5.3.2 Indicating pressure gauges shall preferably have dials graduated over a range of
about double the intended max1mum test pressure, but dials in on case the range
shall be not less than 1 1/2 no more than 4 times test pressure.
5.3.3 The gauges shall be cal1brated against a standard dead-weight tester or a
calbration master gage at least every 6 (six) month or any time revise phrase
believe that they are in error proved by calibration certificate

5.4 Filling the exchanger with the Liquid

5.4.1 Vents shall be provided at all high points of the vessel in the position in which it
is to be tested to puge pussible air pockets while the cxchanger is being
5.4.2 Before apply ing pressure. the operator shall check the test equipment to assure
filled
that it is tight and i. ai! iow-pressure filling lines and other appurtenances that
should not be suh 2ctd to the pressure have been disconnected isolated
or by
valves or other su:taBe means.
5.4.3 After the exchanger is completely filled. the vent shall be shut-of

5.5 Test
5.5.1 The pressure in the exchanger shall be increased gradually until the required test
pressure has been reached.
5.5.2 After the test pressure as required by the code (API 661) shall be
maintained for
the holding time (1 hour), the pressure shall
be reduced to and maintained at a
pressure not less than the test pressure divided by 1.3.

5.6 Inspection
5.6.1 At the pressure described in paragraph. 5.5.2 above
inspection for
be made on the whole body of the
leakage shall
exchanger, especially on weld seam and all
areas of high stress concentration.
5.6.2 Any leaks or other defects found
to be
nonconformity during the inspection shall
be handled in accordance with the NCR, the items
shall be re-tested in
accordance with this procedure after correction.
5.6.3 The test shall be conducted by the Fabrication Dept. and monitored by QC
inspector, witnessed by the Client.
5.6.4 After completion of the pressure test, the QC
inspector shall record the result on
the certificate of pressure test
report (exhibit-A) and the QC Manager shall
approve and verify it.

5.7 Acceptance Criteria

5.7.1 Test results shall be acceptable if there is no visible leakage and deformation
during the hold periods
