Introduction
“Let us run to Mary, and, as her little children, cast ourselves into
her arms with a perfect confidence.”
– Saint Francis de Sales
When Jesus was a child, His Mother certainly mended His clothes, prepared His meals, and
kissed His Face as He fell asleep. As His mother, she loved Him and cared for Him.
The glorious truth is that she is our mother, too. In Revelation 12:17, Saint John tells us that
Mary’s children are “those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus.”
As our Blessed Mother, she wants to help us with our burdens – while always leading us to
her beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
The following pages feature several of the most beloved novenas to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Each one of these prayers reminds us of her love for her spiritual children. As you pray these
prayers, remember that she is truly a mother to all Christians, a mother who wants us to be
happy, and a mother who wants us to spend eternity in Heaven.
Any of these prayers can be prayed at any time. However, the power of a novena is to manifest
one’s persevering prayer for a single intention by nine consecutive days of earnestly beseeching
God for it. The Apostles set this example by praying for the coming of the Holy Spirit in the
nine days before Pentecost.

The Annunciation Novena
I greet you, Ever-blessed Virgin, Mother of God, Throne of Grace, miracle of Almighty Power!
I greet you, Sanctuary of the Most Holy Trinity and Queen of the Universe, Mother of Mercy
and Refuge of Sinners!
Most loving Mother, attracted by your beauty and sweetness, and by your tender compassion,
I confidently turn to you, miserable as I am, and beg of you to obtain for me from your dear Son
the favor I request in this novena:
(Mention your request.)
Obtain for me also, Queen of Heaven, the most lively contrition for my many sins and the grace
to imitate closely those virtues which you practiced so faithfully, especially humility, purity,
and obedience. Above all, I beg you to be my Mother and Protectress, to receive me into the
number of your devoted children, and to guide me from your high throne of glory.
Do not reject my petitions, Mother of Mercy! Have pity on me, and do not abandon me during
life or at the moment of my death. Amen.

The Three Hail Marys Novena
Oh, Immaculate Mary, Virgin most Powerful, I beseech you, through that immense Power
which you have received from the Eternal Father, obtain for me Purity of heart, strength to
overcome all the enemies of my soul, and the special favor I implore in my present necessity.
(Mention your request.)
Mother, most pure! Forsake me not, despise not my prayer, graciously hear me for God’s glory,
your honor, and the welfare of my soul. To obtain this favor I honor your Power by reciting:
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Oh Virgin Mary, My Mother, through that ineffable Wisdom bestowed upon you by the Incarnate
Word of God, I humbly beseech you, obtain for me Meekness and humility of heart, a perfect
knowledge of the divine Will, and strength to accomplish it always. Oh Mary, Seat of Wisdom;
as a tender Mother lead me in the path of Christian Virtue and perfection; enlighten and
enable me to do what is most pleasing to your beloved Son; and obtain my petition.
To obtain this grace, I honor your Wisdom by reciting:
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Oh, Mother of Mercy, Mother of penitent sinners, I stand before you sinful and sorrowful,
beseeching you through the immense Love given to you by the Holy Spirit for us poor sinners,
obtain for me true and perfect contrition for my sins, which I hate and detest with all my
heart, because I love God. Mother most Merciful, help me in my present necessity. Turn, then,
those eyes of Mercy toward us, Oh Clement, Oh Loving, Oh Sweet Virgin Mary! To obtain this
precious gift, I honor your Loving Mercy by reciting:
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Novena of the Miraculous Medal
O Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of Our Lord Jesus and our Mother, penetrated with the
most lively confidence in your all-powerful and never-failing intercession, manifested so often
through the Miraculous Medal, we your loving and trustful children implore you to obtain for
us the graces and favors we ask during this novena, if they be beneficial to our immortal souls,
and the souls for whom we pray.
(Mention your request.)
You know, O Mary, how often our souls have been the sanctuaries of your Son, who hates
iniquity.
Obtain for us then a deep hatred of sin and that purity of heart which will attach us to God
alone so that our every thought, word, and deed may tend to His greater glory.
Obtain for us also a spirit of prayer and self-denial that we may recover by penance what we
have lost by sin and at length attain to that blessed abode where you are the Queen of angels
and of men. Amen.

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary
Novena Prayer
My dearest Mother Mary, behold me, your child, in prayer at your feet. Accept this Holy Rosary,
which I offer you in accordance with your requests at Fátima, as a proof of my tender love for
you, for the intentions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in atonement for the offenses committed
against your Immaculate Heart, and for this special favor which I earnestly request in my
Rosary Novena:
(Mention your request.)
I beg you to present my petition to your Divine Son. If you will pray for me, I cannot be refused.
I know, dearest Mother, that you want me to seek God’s holy Will concerning my request.
If what I ask for should not be granted, pray that I may receive that which will be of greater
benefit to my soul.
I offer you this spiritual Bouquet of Roses because I love you. I put all my confidence in you,
since your prayers before God are most powerful. For the greater glory of God and for the sake
of Jesus, your loving Son, hear and grant my prayer. Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.
(This novena is to be said along with a daily Rosary. Five decades is sufficient.)

Short Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes
O ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfort to
the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Deign to cast upon me a look
of mercy. By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes, you were pleased to make it a privileged
sanctuary, whence you dispense your favors; and already many sufferers have obtained the
cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal.
I come, therefore, with the most unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession.
Obtain, O loving Mother, the granting of my requests.
(Mention your request.)
Through gratitude for favors, I will endeavor to imitate your virtues that I may one day share
your glory.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Amen.
(Pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be.)

Novena to Our Lady of Knock
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Give praise to the Father Almighty, to His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord, to the Spirit who lives in
our hearts, both now and forever. Amen.
Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, you gave hope to your people in a time of distress and
comforted them in sorrow. You have inspired countless pilgrims to pray with confidence to
your divine Son, remembering His promise, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall
find.”
Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims on the road to Heaven. Fill me with love and
concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those who live with me. Comfort me
when I am sick, lonely, or depressed.
Teach me how to take part ever more reverently in the Holy Mass. Give me a greater love of
Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Pray for me now, and at the hour of my death. Amen.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,

Grant us peace.

Our Lady of Good Remedy Novena
O Queen of Heaven and Earth, Most Holy Virgin, we venerate thee. Thou art the beloved
Daughter of the Most High God, the chosen Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Immaculate
Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Vessel of the Most Holy Trinity.
O Mother of the Divine Redeemer, who under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy comes
to the aid of all who call upon thee, extend thy maternal protection to us. We depend on thee,
Dear Mother, as helpless and needy children depend on a tender and caring mother.
Hail, Mary ...
O Lady of Good Remedy, source of unfailing help, grant that we may draw from thy treasury of
graces in our time of need. Touch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and
forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the poor and the hopeless; aid
the sick and the suffering. May they be healed in body and strengthened in spirit to endure
their sufferings with patient resignation and Christian fortitude.
Hail, Mary ...
Dear Lady of Good Remedy, source of unfailing help, thy compassionate heart knows a remedy
for every affliction and misery we encounter in life. Help me with thy prayers and intercession
to find a remedy for my problems and needs, especially for ...
(Mention your request.)
On my part, O loving Mother, I pledge myself to a more intensely Christian lifestyle, to a more
careful observance of the laws of God, to be more conscientious in fulfilling the obligations of
my state in life, and to strive to be a source of healing in this broken world of ours.
I enjoy health of body and peace of mind, and grow stronger in the faith and in the love of thy
Son, Jesus.
