CORPORATE INTERNSHIP
CERTIFICATE
INTRODUCTION –
Comparative Study between the brands of Pepsi and Coca Cola
This Internship Report is an extensive research on the Comparative study between the two
giants Pepsi and Coca Cola. It covers an extensive survey and depict of all fact and figures of
two companies. It begins with the introduction of soft drink industry and introduction of these
two companies of soft drink industry. It covers some of the major strategies adopted by Pepsi
and Coca Cola.  The major players in the soft drink industry in India are Coca Cola and
Pepsi.
Pepsi holds the major market share followed by Coca Cola. They have a cut throat
competition between themselves. Whatever strategy is followed by one company, it is copied
by the other.

Data was collected from secondary. In the modern urban culture consumption of soft drinks
particularly among younger generation has become very popular. Soft drinks in various
flavors and tastes are widely patronized by urbane population at various occasions like dinner
parties, marriages, social get together, birthday calibration etc. children of all ages and groups
are especially attracted by the mere mention of the word soft drinks.

Soft drinks are typical and necessary consumer products, which are generally consumed by
the individuals to quench the thirst and for a good flavour, and it is considered to be the
symbol of social status.
The two main reasons, which classify the soft drinks under consumer products, are their easy
availability and their reasonable high degree standardization. Among the listed consumer
goods (i.e., perishable items) soft drinks is considered non-essential and as a luxury item.
Soft drinks can be classified into two broad categories-
 Carbonated drinks and
 Non-Carbonated drinks.
Both have enormous market. In case of carbonated beverages the effectiveness of carbon-
dioxide is the main factor in determining the quality. Cola, lemon and orange are carbonated
drinks while mango drinks come under non-carbonated category.

A prolonged visible and sparking effervescence is sought after to produce soda taste in such
drinks. The basic constituents of soft drinks are water, sweeteners, acidulates, flavourings,
colourings, and preservatives. The soft drink market is dominated by a few brands. Pepsi and
Coca Cola products for example.

Soft drink industry in India has witnessed phenomenal growth in the recent past, particularly
after the exit of Coca-Cola. The exit of Coca-Cola from India during the late seventies gave a
bolter scope to several Indian soft drink companies to grow. These were a rapid growth in
this industry but each one aggressively competed with one another to capture a major share in
the market. The competition was very high even in terms of advertising. Most of the
consumer consume just for fun & refreshment purpose.

Observation during internship

 Pepsi must take serious care of availability of products in the market especially in
peak season

 Most of the retailers are happy with the behaviour of the PepsiCo personnel, while
rarely a few reported that still there are possibilities of improvement.

 Most of the retailers having company s cooling equipment are not satisfied with after
sale services. In peak season of June and July Pepsi company should do more sale by
providing regular services in terms of vigi (cooling equipment).

 Most of the retailers reported that they have not received any display material or
hoarding since last one year or so.

 Leakage and damage bottles are not return in distributor's side. And been taken care
of by the company which is a good step.

 Some retailer complained about the stock of mountain dew which was short in that
time period and retailer also talked about the price schemes.

 The most demanded pack of cold drink is of 200ml of glass bottle as it is in easy reach
of common or lower class customer

 Schemes are always changing according to sale which is good for growing.

 Company mentor takes care of every little thing happening at every deportment points
as in Jaipur there are 22 route.
Finding and Conclusion
As the results shows that market share of Pepsi cold drinks is more than the Coca-Cola in
Jaipur but it has some drawback like poor services in some areas .Advertisement which is
backbone of any business in today's world is very good in PepsiCo India and especially in
Rajasthan .
Pepsi is running various sales promotional schemes and promotional campaign for retailers,
but in comparison to the competitor  PepsiCo is the favourite of retailers in terms of goodwill.
The only competitor of PEPSI is COCA-COLA, & no local brands can beat PEPSI.

Everything in this world is made to utilize properly but should be reach at the proper person
or to the proper utilize areas and Pepsi is doing that otherwise the value added to those things
become in vein. As there is a proverb that, "Far from eye, far from heart" Thus finance and
marketing play a very important role in achieving the objectives of a company.
According to Ducker, "both the market and the Cost distribution channels are often more
crucial than the product.. In an economy like that of India, where marginal shortages can lead
to disproportion distortion in prices, a dependable and efficient distribution distortion in
prices, a dependable and efficient distribution system is very much essential. The distribution
system creates a value added to all most all products. All from the above study I conclude
that Pepsi is growing good in Rajasthan in comparison to Coca- Cola as PepsiCo has 76% of
the market share.
