Good morning, teacher and classmates, my present project consists of a cover with my general data with the theme
of "A wonderful child in a different world" followed by the objectives specifying that the book I read has helped
me a lot to learn new vocabulary and improve my reading comprehension.
I'll tell you about the book consisted of the following characters: "Auggie" (protagonist) Via (Auggie's older sister)
Isabel (Auggie's mother) Nate (Auggie's father) Jack Will (Auggie's school friend) Summer (friend) Julian Albans
(the main antagonist) Tushman (headmaster).
Wonder is a novel written by R.J. Palacio launched in 2012. This book focuses on "Auggie", a 10-year-old boy
who suffers from a genetic condition and has a deformed face. He lives with his parents, his sister and a dog.
People look at him and judge him based on his looks, but Auggie tries not to let it get to him. Auggie's protective
life changes when he goes to school. He faces discrimination, due to his appearance, he is taken to meet the
principal, Mr. Tushman. While Auggie is there, some of the kids who will be in the August grade take him on a
tour of the school. He befriends Jack and Summer who sits with him for lunch on the first day. A rumor arises that
touching Auggie will give you the “plague”, so his classmates avoid touching him, so Auggie begins to feel
rejected. This whole story makes Via, Auggie's older sister, think a lot. Via has had to come to terms with the fact
that all of the family's attention is on Auggie. Auggie fights with Jack Summer begins to spend more time with
Auggie. Since Auggie is mad at Jack, Summer becomes his best friend. Jack and Auggie reconcile over winter
break, Jack realizes that Julian has turned most of the kids in his grade against them and a whole conflict begins.
Via now has a boyfriend, Justin, who makes her feel important and valued. At school, the situation improves and
there is a trip for 3 days in which Auggie sleeps away from home for the first time. In the end, everyone has gotten
used to him and wants to be his friend. Graduation arrives; Auggie wins a special award for being brave and kind.
He realizes how far he has come. It all ends with his mother whispering in his ear, calling him "wonder."
