2nd COT 01 18 23

This lesson plan is for a science class on reflection of light in plane mirrors. The objectives are for students to understand and compare the angle of incidence and reflection, differentiate the laws of reflection, and solve equations involving these angles. Key concepts to be discussed include incident and reflected rays, the normal line, and the laws of reflection. Students will participate in cooperative learning activities and discussions on these topics. They will also complete an activity evaluating their understanding of the mirror equation and be assigned to explain why the word "AMBULANCE" appears flipped in an ambulance vehicle.

SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 10

Topic: Reflection of Light in Plane Mirrors
Time: 7:45 to 8:45

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
  a. To compare the angle of reflection and the angle of incidence;
b. To differentiate the laws of reflection;
c. To solve the equation in finding the angle of incidence and angle of reflection.

II. LEARNING TASKS

  a. Topic: Reflection of Light in Plane Mirrors
  b. Concepts: a. Reflection is the bouncing off of light rays when it hits a surface
like a plane mirror.
b. Incident Ray is the ray of light approaching the mirror represented
by an arrow approaching an optical element like mirrors.
c. Reflected Ray is the ray of light which leaves the mirror and is
represented by an arrow pointing away from the mirror.
d. Normal Line is an imaginary line that can be drawn perpendicular
to the surface of the mirror at the point of incidence where the ray
strikes the mirror.
e. The angle between the incident ray and the normal line is known as
the angle of incidence, Ɵi.
f. The angle between the reflected ray and the normal line is known as
the angle of reflection, Ɵ r .
g. The 2 Laws of Reflection are:
o The normal line, incident ray, and the reflected ray lie on the
same plane.
o The angle of incidence Ɵi is equal to the angle of reflectionƟ r .

  e. Strategies: Cooperative learning

  f. Materials: Laptop, Projector, Instructional Materials
  g. References: Science 10 Learner’s Material pp. 173-178

III.  LEARNING SEQUENCE
  a. Routinary activities
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Review of the Previous Lesson

  b. Motivation
 Play a game called “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall”

  c. Lesson Proper

  I. DISCUSSION
    1. Present the definition of terms which are helpful in the discussion of the
topic.
    2. Discuss the Law of Reflection and introduce the solving method in the
mirror equation of a plane mirror.
    3. Give an activity about mirror equation.
  II. EVALUATION
    1. Students will answer an activity.

III.  ASSIGNMENT

  I. In a ½ crosswise sheet of paper, explain why the word “AMBULANCE” in an

ambulance car is flipped?
