About

IIIT Surat

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat is an Institute of National

Importance and was established in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode in
2017 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The Government of Gujarat, Gujarat Narmada Fertilizer Company Ltd, Gujarat
Gas Ltd and Gujarat Informatics Ltd agreed through a Memorandum of
Understanding with Government of India to be the partners in the
establishment and progression of the Institute.

The students are admitted through the JEE (Main). The Institute is committed to
the mission of delivering highly competent graduate engineers who are
enriched with theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience in
Information and Communication Technologies. The B.Tech curriculum is
designed in such a way that students get exposure to the latest trends in
technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and
Internet of Things (IoT).

IIIT Surat strongly believes that industry-academia engagement is

instrumental in advancing research and creating a skilled workforce. Therefore,
the final year B.Tech students of our institute are encouraged to pursue
industry internships for a period of 6 months during their eight semester (Jan–
June). This provides them the necessary exposure to the industrial
environment and makes them ready for a good career in engineering. The
Training and Placement Cell at IIIT Surat provides a platform where the
recruiters and students can come together to explore the avenues of a fruitful
alliance.

Message From

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat established in 2017 by Ministry of Education,
Government of India is an Institute of National Importance to cater the ICT requirements of the industries.
The industries in the timeframe of 4 th Industrial revolution are developing advanced cyber-physical
systems, high-capacity connectivity, new human- machine interaction modes, virtual reality systems,
artificial intelligence, Machine learning and high-speed transfer of digital instructions to the physical
world. The Institute offers a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science
and Engineering. The curriculum is so twinned that students of both the streams equally competent to
achieve their personal and professional goals. The students will also get the opportunity to meet and
collaborate with experts, mentors and peers from different fields and backgrounds. The Institute provides
the academic environment for excelling in the technical or scientific fields relevant to trends in industries.
IIIT-Surat is more than just a learning centre, it is a community of lifelong learners who want to make a
positive difference in the world.

Training and placement cell of the Institute has been successful in providing opportunity to learn new
skills, gain valuable experience and network with professionals in the field. The training and placement
activities of the Institute have given the right opportunity like a short-term internship, a long-term
internship/project, or a full-time job. One can explore different sectors, industries, and roles, suitable for
his/her strengths and passions. Training and placement cell is imperative in boosting students’
confidence, enhancing their resume, and increasing their chances of landing in a dream job.

Institute has Student Start up and Innovation Policy (SSIP) financially supported by Government of Gujarat.
This is to enable the students to think differently to become an entrepreneur. The mind-to-market is the
basic motto of this activity. SSIP supports students to realize their patentable novel ideas and realize a
start-up or MSME. We consistently support and encourage our students to realize their goal by
overcoming the obstacles. The Institute offers multitude of opportunities to grow and develop as a
professional and as a person with good character.

I consider it to be an honour and opportunity to present to you a group of young, dynamic individuals who
have been groomed to face challenges that lie ahead for them in the industry and corporate world as a
whole. With an increasing thrust being placed on Institute-Industry interaction, it is my sincere belief that
your esteemed organization and IIIT Surat stand to gain immensely from this symbiotic relationship.

Young brains coupled with dynamic thoughts and fresh talent all ready to explore the heights of the ever-
existing and expanding corporate world is what we aim to provide to the companies in this competitive
environment. Our students are well trained on fundamental concepts and engineering applications by top-
notch faculty and staff. Latest technologies are employed for effective delivery and the curriculum
emphasizes practice orientation.

Our teaching pedagogy (which includes presentations, case studies, live projects, educational and
industrial tours and participation in seminars and conferences, club activities, sports and cultural activities)
helps towards acquiring skills sought after and needed by organizations. The intelligence, high energy and
motivation of our students, as well as their challenging work environments, assure that they bring an added
measure of maturity and knowledge to the classroom.

The Training and Placement Cell at IIIT Surat serves as a link between two important stakeholders: our
students and you, our valued recruiter. The Training and Placement Cell works round the clock to give the
students, a stepping stone into the corporate world and intelligent, astute, hard-working, and technically
proficient minds to the hiring companies, so that both, the companies and the students, can excel and
achieve great heights.

2 GDSC is the student chapter of Google Developers, committed to fostering

development skills among students. Our club organizes workshops, hackathons,

and competitions in web development, app development, machine learning,

blockchain, and other cutting-edge technologies. As a partner of several

hackathons, GDSC encourages collaboration and contribution, empowering

students to excel in the world of technology.

Ecell

2 Ruminate is the first official student-run club at IIIT Surat dedicated to fostering

innovation and entrepreneurship. With a passionate team, Ruminate provides

resources and hosts events throughout the year to ignite the entrepreneurial

spark in students. Our goal is to nurture budding entrepreneurs, equipping them

with the skills and mindset needed to lead and succeed in the startup ecosystem.

LCS

; LCS (Learn Code Solve) is the official algorithmic and programming club of the

institute which aims at developing coding culture and a competitive

programming spirit among the students to enhance their skills in Data Structure

and Algorithms. It organizes its flagship coding competitions throughout the year

such as Stranger Codes, AlgoHours, CodeWave, HashCup and serves as an active

host for Google HashCode Hub. Furthermore, the club has a number of talented

coders who have received high ratings on well-known programming

communities like CodeChef, Codeforces, HackerEarth, HackerRank, and LeetCode

and many of them participated in ACM-ICPC Regionals too.

Robotics

; The institute's Robotics and Electronics club is a community of enthusiastic

students dedicated to automation and electronics. Its main objective is to create

a platform for students to learn, experiment and bring their ideas to life from

concept to application. The club aims to promote a culture of creativity, curiosity

and collaboration among its members, with a particular emphasis on cutting-

edge technology to solve real-world issues. It brings together passionate

students in fields such as robotics, IoT and embedded systems, providing them

with opportunities to prototype and develop their ideas into actual productsR

SARAS

8 SARAS, or the Student's Artistic and Recreational Activities Society, is the cultural

club of IIIT Surat, known for its exceptional dedication to promoting the rich and

diverse heritage of our nation. At SARAS, members organize various events under

the EBSB and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav banners, in addition to hosting annual

events like "Saanjh" and Makar Sankranti celebrations. Through these events,

students are given the opportunity to showcase their skills in singing, dancing,

painting, poetry, and drama[

8 SARAS strongly emphasizes the importance of connecting with one's cultural

roots, and we urge students at IIIT Surat to not only excel in their technical pursuits

but also embrace their artistic and cultural sides.

Indominus

8 Indominus, the sports and gaming club of IIIT Surat, promotes competitiveness,

creativity, and coordination among students. We organize a wide range of sports

and gaming events, including tournaments in BGMI, Smash Kart, Strumble Guyz,

Valorant, Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Chess, and Kho-Kho. Indominus also

oversees the management and formation of college teams, representing IIIT

Surat in prestigious inter-college sports meets.

Spring Fiesta

Gone are those days when college life was only about academics and students focused

on attending lectures and writing exams.

SPRING FIESTA is the official spring festival of IIIT SURAT. It is an annual social & cultural

festival, multitude of colours, cheer, talent, and exaltation. SPRING FIESTA brings to you

events varying from sports to technical, entrepreneurship and cultural to learn new

things and showcase your talents to the best.

All the clubs come together to make this event a huge success, motivating students,

giving them a break from academics rather a new learning experience in different fields

like management, art, dance, drama, singing, sports, robotics, startups, technology, etc.

Fest plays a crucial role in shaping and

strengthening the career of a student. College fests,

serve as a well-deserved break that though drains

the students out of the physical energy, mentally

gives them an energy boost that replenished their

minds with fruitful memories of the fests that can be

now cherished and can be survived on. Technical

fests are an amalgamation of fun and learning

where spectacular ideas are displayed, and students

learn and feel inspired.

Sports fest create a sensation of sportsmanship and brotherhood in students. To play roles in a college

festival, which do not essentially go hand in glove with academics, like cultural events, challenge you

out of your comfort zone and enable you to acquire a different skill set. SPRING FIESTA helps students in

social skill development, and help them to explore innate talents and create creativity. It provides them

a push towards team building, cooperation, develops critical thinking, helps in improving networking

skills, developing emotional intelligence, and strengthening relationships.
