                      1 . Quaver Radio Wrap-Up                                     1-2 min
                             Have Symphony No. 5 playing as students enter your classroom.
                             Take attendance, if needed.
                             Explain that this lesson will be a combination of analyzing various styles of music
                             based upon their musical elements and completing the final assessment.
                      Hint: To get the fastest internet speeds, preview all your screens ahead of time so they are
                      pre-loaded in your computer and close all open windows except for Quaver.
                      2 . Fixing Quaver Radio                                      3-4 min
                             Review the musical elements that have been covered during this project: genres,
                             rhythm, pitch, chords, form, and melody.
                             Using QFM 1 - QFM 5 from Quaver Radio, select various tracks and review the
                             musical elements of the selected songs with students.

                      3 . Other Elements of Genre                                  5-7 min
                             There are many more elements that contribute to the genre of a piece of music
                             other than rhythm, pitch, chords, and melody.
                             Using the screen and page 10 of the project book, discuss these additional elements
                             using That's the Only Way as a "case study."
                             Listen to the piece by pressing the PLAY button, and discuss how those elements
                             relate to that specific song (page 11).
                             Students can make additional notes in their project books.
                             Analyzing this song prepares the students for the game featured in the next screen.

                      4 . Analyze the Elements                                     6-9 min
                             Place the students in their project groups.
                             Explain that you will be inviting a student to come up and randomly choose one of
                             the 4 play buttons.
                             For each piece, student groups will be given 30 seconds to listen, 30 seconds to
                             complete the elements, and one minute to discuss their answer with their group
                             (pages 12/13).
                             Have groups decide with which Quaver Radio station each song should belong.

                      5 . 6th - Module 1 - FUNdamentals                            14-21 min
                          Assessment (30 Q's)
                             This is the last session of the Quaver Radio Review. Have the students take the pre-
                             assessment test again as a way of charting their progress.
                             There is a long version (30 questions) and a short version (20 questions) of the pre-
                             assessment. This is the 30 question assessment. The 20 question assessment can be
                             found at the very end (screen 10) of the Extend section.
                             All of the questions from the pre-assessment have been covered as part of this
                             review project
                             Students will answer by circling their answer sheets.
                             Instruct them to circle only ONE letter per item or question.
                             Press the PLAY buttons to hear the question and answer items, or simply read them
                             to the class yourself.

                             Invite students to share some of their journal entries from the project.

                      7 . Student Compositions                                     12-18 min
                      The final extended section of this project gives students additional time to perform their
                      melody and chord accompaniment piece from the previous session. The students will also
                      have the opportunity to create a backing track and practice reading a chord progression
                      (which follows).
                      Provide additional time for students to share their musical compositions.
                             Invite student groups to perform their musical compositions for the class.
                             Discuss performance protocol (stage presence, attire, posture) and audience
                             etiquette appropriate for the occasion.
                             Give time for evaluation and constructive feedback based on the student rubric.
                             Time permitting, include feedback and constructive evaluation from classmates
                             based on teacher-provided criteria (or grading rubric).

                      8 . My Backing Track                                         8-12 min
                      Give students opportunity to create a piece of music using QGrooves.
                             Have students create a simple 8-measure piece based on the chord structure of
                             page 9 of their project book.
                             Have students play their project melody over the top of their QGrooves backing
                             track.
                      Note: Students can access this Creative in one of two ways. It can be assigned through
                      Resource Manager, exactly as seen in this lesson, or students can use this version accessible
                      through the Creatives button on their Student Dashboard. For more information on how to
                      use QGrooves, click on the Help button.
                      9 . Agent V7 (Reading Chord Charts)                          10-15 min
                      Play along with various styles of music by following chord charts.
                             Use the green arrows to paginate through the chord chart selection.
                             Ask students to follow the chord charts as they listen to each track.
                             Use barred instruments, Boomwhackers, keyboards, or guitars to create chords of C,
                             F, and G. Have the students play their chords along with the track.
                             Create other rhythm ostinatos using either body percussion or non-pitched
                             percussion instruments.
                             Add simple lyrics to go along with the track.
