Statement of Purpose

Introduction
Introducing myself as Sachendra Bhandari from Bhemdutta Municipality, kanchanpur, Nepal,
I was born in the year 1993. The main reason of writing this statement of purpose is to
request you to grant me the student visa (subclass-500) to study Certificate IV in Kitchen
Management and Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management at Brighton Pacific Pty Ltd
(trading as: Australia Institute of Business and Technology).

Academic Background
Going back to my academic history, I completed my school level from Diamond Public
Academy Secondary School, Gaddachauki, Mahendranagar, Nepal. After the completion of
my school level, I did my year 12 from Adarsha Vidya Niketan secondary School,
Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, Nepal, taking Accountancy, Economics and Computer Science
as a major subject. Then I joined to Amity College which is affiliated to Pokhara University
and completed my bachelor’s degree in business administration. To pursue my master’s
degree, I went abroad and study in one of the prestigious and currently ranked number one,
Ajou University in South Korea. I completed Master of Arts in NGO studies. Furthermore, I
came to Australia to support my wife for her studies. She is currently studying in Sydney,
Australia. Also, I would like to have an Australian degree by myside. So, I choose to study
Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Advanced Diploma of Hospitality management.

My Course Structure Certificate IV in Kitchen Management

I have decided to study Certificate IV in Kitchen Management because this qualification
reflects the role of chefs and cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the
kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use
discretion to solve non-routine problems. This qualification provides a pathway to work in
organizations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, cafes etc. As I am currently working in
Hospitality Management, this course will help me to develop more skills and knowledge in
my work and it will help me to have my career as a chef. In this course students will learn
and practice important skills in the field such as:

 Kitchen Management
 Kitchen Operations
 Food Safety
 Menu planning
 Customer Service
 Communication and Teamwork

We get to practice these skills in a group, through work placements, and via industry-led
learning focused on real world problems that need to be solved. I found several institutes
that offered similar degrees in kitchen management. Among them, I found Australia
Institute and Technology (AIBT) that offers a kitchen management course that provides
hands-on training, practical experience, and a comprehensive understanding of the
industry sectors. The course is designed to prepare students for a career in Chef and Chef
de Partie.

vocational education providers offering quality and excellence in training. As education is
essential for empowerment and growth and I believe AIBT will help me to support me on the

they provide the following facilities:
1. Computer lab

Most importantly, the certificate achieved in AIBT is globally accepted and recognized which
helps me to explore on the field of my interest. The supervision and guidance provided in
Rhodes is extremely valuable and the work placement opportunity provided during the
course is a surplus for students like me.

Research to determine the viability of studying Hospitality Management course in

Australia, at greater expense, rather than in Nepal:
The Project Management course directly relates to my dream but before joining the course, I
did some research on colleges of Nepal that provides the same course. Nepal’s education
providers do not formally offer the program that I want to study, i.e., Diploma of Project
Management and Advanced Diploma of Project Management I had researched few colleges
that is listed below:
• The Kathmandu Academy
• Nepal Administrative Staff College
In terms of financial expenses, these colleges are cheaper than the colleges of Australia. But I
prefer quality rather than the money as it is related to my future. I could literally feel the
differences in course structure between above mentioned college and the colleges here in
Australia. The main skills I want to get an Australian degree which is handy, practical and
starts from basic to advance level. Thus, paying high fees and pursuing a degree is worth for
the achievement of future goals.

Australia as a study Destination

Australian education accepts students with skills, knowledge and contacts that will last a
lifetime by giving quality education for the strong foundation of success. The favourable
climate and good social environment with a low crime rate can be added on the plus points
of Australia as it helps to achieve qualitative education.

The education system is properly inspected by the government in order to maintain the
quality of education. Moreover, the most trustworthy part is that Australia has the provision
of the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
which is a register of Australian Education Institutions that recruit enrol and teach overseas
student. On top of that to specify the standard for educational qualifications in Australia, it
has an Australian Qualification Framework (AQF). As AQF is a national policy for regulated
qualifications in Australian education and training; it incorporates the qualifications from
each education and training centre into a single comprehensive national qualification
framework. Australia follows the ESOS (Education Service for Overseas Student) Act 2000.
The ESOS framework ensures that students have access to tuition assurance (which acts like
consumer protection. The ESOS framework includes the element like Tuition Protection
Services (TPS) where the fees are safe and secured. On the other hand, the Post Study Work
(PSW) which allows international students to work temporarily in Australia is a bonus to the
international students which helps to widen the knowledge and gain experience that can be
utilized back home. Australia has special health insurance coverage for the international
students and that is called as Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC), which covers the
unexpected sickness or any health emergency care. These rules and systems make Australia
to stand out from rest of the countries and be the study destination for an international
student like me.

Financial Support
My family will be supporting for my studies and my living expenses in Australia. Therefore, I
want to assure you that we have enough property and income sources to support my
educational and living expenses in Australia and I am confident that I won’t be facing any
financial problem here. My mother has got her savings of NRS.4,000,000.00 which is
equivalent to AUD 45,834.22 in Prabhu Bank Limited. My family fully supports my decision to
pursue my further studies and is willing to bear the cost of course, my living costs and
additional fees that may be required during my stay in Australia.

Career Pathway and Incentive to return to Nepal.

Completing the course isn’t the end of my educational journey. Project manager can be my
entry point into various broader roles in Construction industry in a variety of sectors, from
residential to commercial, and from private to public. Project management is not straight
forward and easy job to have, but one of its main advantages is that the effort I put into the
work is recognized and rewarded. It is a lucrative career path I will be satisfied with. With
the construction industry booming, Project Manager offers hands-on work, a steady income,
and stable job security, while also offering variety.
After successful completion of my course and experiencing further knowledge in this field, I
will return to Nepal to fulfill my dreams of contributing to the construction industry in
Nepal. I will have academic knowledge which will increase the level of confidence and will
give me a competitive edge to find a well-paying job in Nepal. There are plenty of jobs in
Nepal for graduates in the construction field such as a career as Project Contract Manager,
Project manager and Project leader. I will have the potential to assume more responsibility
that may enhance my knowledge and confidence to launch out and bring much needed
improvement in the field. By applying my knowledge and skills that I will learn during my
studies in Australia, I believe this dream is achievable.
After working for a few years and understanding the market I also have a dream to start my
own business. I am confident enough that studying in Australia will help me get the
international experience to cater the customers and do well in this competitive but thriving
business environment. With the experience and confidence gained from this business, I
would like to slowly start investing in different projects in construction industry as well.
As much as I want to pursue my further education in Australia, I have no plans to settle
down in this country as I have strong family ties in my motherland, Nepal. In Nepal, children
need to give support to their parents in their old age, as we are raised in this culture. My
family has been the source of encouragement, motivation, and support both emotionally
and financially throughout my study, so I owe them everything I have and will have. I cannot
thank them enough. The most important thing in my life is to ensure my parents live well. In
a similar way, as a responsible family hire, I need to look after my parents, property, house
land, and other assets in Nepal. They have great hope in me. The greatest satisfaction is
being with family, friends, and relatives here in my own motherland.

International Students Visa conditions

I am aware of all the rules and regulations to be followed as an international student. I
would like to declare my strong commitments about all these rules to be followed as an
international student in the days to come. I am a genuine student and I have understood all
the student visa conditions and obligations under visa subclass 500 such as
• I need to maintain at least 80% attendance. - I need to inform DIAC of any charge in a
course of studies, thesis, or research topic too, I must not change my course without
approval from the department.
• I need to maintain health insurance during my stay in Australia.
• I cannot work more than 40 hours a fortnight when my course is in session.
• I must inform the educational institution of my current address in Australia within 7
days to notify of any changes.
I hereby attached all required documents along with this SOP with the dream of becoming a
graduate from an Australian College. I promise, I will follow each and every rule and
regulation and will prove myself a genuine student.

Sincerely
Sachendra Bhandari
