Exercise 1.

A central warehouse must supply product Z to 4 peripheral warehouses.


Deliveries are daily, Monday through Saturday, in lots of 100 units. The
forecasted requirements, initial stock and safety stock are as follows:

• Order preparation cost: 250 €.

• Purchase price: 8,5 €.

• Annual product sales: 45,000 units.

• Unit storage costs: €1.25.

• Interest rate: 3.5%.

• Supply 365 days a year.

Requested:

Determine the optimal purchase lot and time between orders.

Year: 365 days

Cost of preparation: 250 euros

Unit price: 8.5 euros

Sales per year: 45,000 units

G= (P*I) + A

Therefore, we have that:

• Optimum purchase lot (Q0) = 3822.35


• Number of orders = 11774
• Time between orders = 31.06

product:

• Average daily consumption: 150 units.

• Standard deviation: 20 units.

• Delivery time: 5 days.

Requested:

For a service level of 90% determine the safety stock and reorder point.
Taking into account:

Annual period:365 days

Service level: 90%.

SS= z * sd * pe

PP= (d * pe) + SS

Z value = 1.28

Safety stock = 57.31 if rounded to 58
