SYSTEM AND METHODOLOGY
WALK THE BELT – Conveyor is Operating
When the conveyor system is operating, the maintenance crew will do:
❑ Walk on the walkway conveyor while observing the conditions, as well as unusual behavior of all
moving / rotating components
❑ Record the location of the material buildup
❑ Record the signs of misalignment
SYSTEM AND METHODOLOGY
WALK THE BELT – conveyor is not operating
Perform the following checks when the conveyor system is not operating and electric safety has
been locked:
❑ Ensure the conveyor component is functioning properly and make repairs / adjustments when
needed.
❑ Check belt wear - especially the surface, edges and joints
❑ Check for damage or loading wear and transfer points.
❑ Check the clearances in the chute area and skirting area.
❑ Check the condition / function of the belt cleaners and make adjustments / changes when
needed.
❑ Ensure that all safety guards are installed properly and correctly in place.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
1. BELT CONVEYOR SERVICES
1. Daily / weekly conveyor inspection and service includes:
- Look directly at the condition of the rubber belt conveyor cover,connection,belt edge,and
if there is a longitudinal / transverse belt damage.
- Inspection of belt runs during operation and repair of misalignment.
- Recommendations and scheduling of conveyor belt changes.
- Check and identify the causes of belt sag.

fold between the belt and the roller.

Daily / weekly inspections and services belt cleaning systems include:
1. Conduct routine checks:
Inspection of the tensioner and make adjustments if needed.
Inspection of possible buildup of material in the belt cleaner
Clean up the carryback that occurs
2. Service and replacement of blade belt cleaner:
Belt cleaner service work is carried out when the conveyor belt is not operating, including
repairing the shaft and blade position, brushing and cleaning the blade, replacing the
worn blade and reassembling it to the cleaning position.

4. IDLERS SERVICES
Roller daily inspections and services include:
Check / identify damaged / non-rotating rollers, worn / corrosive surfaces, noisy
rollers, rollers that come out of the frame, broken / broken frames, worn lagging on
impact rollers, rollers covered in carryback / dust and other conditions that do not
normal.
Recommend and schedule damaged and non-functioning roller shifts.
Record the life of each roller every conveyor and report it.

5. PULLEY SERVICES
Daily / weekly pulley inspections and services include:
Inspection of rubber lagging pulley conditions, pulley surfaces from material
stacks, cracks or damage, including noise and temperature from bearings.
Recommendations for re-lagging pulley if it has caused a belt slip and
missallignment.
Carrying bearing lubrication according to technical instructions from bearing
manufacture.
Recommendations and scheduling for pulley and bearing changes.
Record the age of rubber lagging and pulley from each conveyor system and
report it.

6.TRANSFER POINT SERVICES
1. Daily / weekly inspection and service Transfer Points include:
- Inspection of transfer point material flow due to corrosion and abrasion.
- Inspection of liners used.
- Inspection of dust and specks of material coming out of the transfer point.
- Material flow pattern
2. Checking the flow of material in this transfer point is very important to prevent the buildup of
material so that the channel is not smooth.
3. Ensure that all installed v-plows are still functioning properly and can prevent material stuck
between the belt and tail pulley.

7.DRIVE SYSTEM SERVICES
Routine drive system maintenance includes:
• Check gearboxes and couplings (oil, noise level and temperature), v-belt conditions.
• Scheduling for alternating or improving speed reducers, v-belts and couplings.

Service contracts for corrective work consist of:
Repair / install all guard / protection around the conveyor - creating a safe and comfortable work
