1"1 Cooling water (Coolant)
Cooling water specification
Use clean soft water (distilled water) or tap water for the cooling water.
Use water having the properties shown in the following table.
Recommended water quality
PH (25°) 65-80
Total hardness (CaCO3) = 100 ppm
Malkalinity 30- 100 ppm
[Ammonium ion (NH.*) $0.05 ppm
Chloride ion (62°) = 100 ppm
Sulfate ion (SO) = 100 ppm
Evaporation residue = 400 ppm
Antifreeze mixture specification
‘Always add Long Life Coolant (LLC) to the cooling water.
Be sure to observe the mixing ratio as specified by the manufacturer.
‘Yanmar recommends the following Long Life Coolant (LLC):
+ TEXACO LONG LIFE COOLANTistandard and premixed, product code 7997 and 7998
+ HAVOLINE EXTENDED LIFE ANTIFREEZE/COOLANT, product code 7994
or equivalent to the above LLC.
Choose LLC which will not have any adverse effects on the materials (cast iron, aluminum, copper, etc.)
Used in the engine's freshwater cooling system, if different from above.

Utilization factor. This produces fuel economy (therefore low CO.), low NOx emissions, and high power
with low smoke, along with highly atomized fuel particles.
5-2 High Torque
Excellent torque-rise characteristics in high speed and high load range enable stable performance of job

Combination of
rings
The combination of ‘Silicard’ liners and the nitrided SUS rings has the following effects, providing
excellent stability in the consumption of lubricating oil, even in heavy load applications.
+ The effects of using silicon carbide (SiC) and nitrided SUS produce good wear resistance in both the
cylinder liners and the rings.
+ Micro-grooves formed in the process of embedding the SiC have the effect of holding lubricating oil on
the walls of the liner. This effect prevents the liner from developing a mirror surface due to carbon
buildup.
‘Yanmar developed this technology and produced these parts for heavy-load, marine propulsion engines
that are used in trawlers. We have already sold more than 30,000 of these units.
ard” - treated liners (a Yanmar o1
© Sic embeded in the surface sic emmesteain ne satace
The “Slicard” treatment embeds silicon carbide J
powder (SiC is an artificial ceramic that is close to
diamonds in hardness) in the surface of metal
using a special surface treatment to form a partial
composite material
Optimized clearance between the piston and the liner
The clearance between the piston skirt (the piston is made of thin, ductile cast iron (FCD)) and the
“Silicard” liner has been reduced to the optimum distance, reducing piston swing and the amount of oil
used.
16im Improved fuel injector durability
‘Yanmar's precision equipment technology is used to improve durability as follow
“The corners of the inner nozzles are rounded.
+The surface of the main nozzle body is given a special treatment (to improve heat resistance)
Rounded inner nozzle comers
‘Surface special treatment
5-4 Superb Conveniences
Designed for convenience by the placement of inspection ports, etc
Piston can be lifted with the engine in place.
“A compact engine that expands free engine room space.

30Double walll fuel high pressure pipe (Option)
This fuel injection pipe is a double wall pipe. It prevents fuel oil that is under high pressure from splashing
‘out. Leak oil flows through the double wall pipe to the leak oil tank. If the quantity of oil in the tank is higher
than the specified level, the level gauge switch actuates and starts an alarm.

‘© We recommend that the length of the remote control cable is within 20 m,
@ When bending the cable at the clutch side is necessary, do not bend it to one direction only. In that
case, the cable loss discrepancy will be caused between push and pull due to backlash, which further
causes the specified forward or reverse stroke to be insufficient.
O
x °
@ In cable wiring, make the wiring straight as far as possible with least bending
© The minimum bending radius shall be over 200 mm,
>
© Provide thermal insulation plates for the cable running near the hot engine parts so that heat will not be
radiated directly to the cable. (The ambient temperature should be below 100°C.)
© Clamp the cable at appropriate positions to prevent vibrations,
© Do not cause external force to work on the cable,
© Use a cable of the suitable length. Do not use a cable that is too long,
x
© Do not cause paint to be adhered to the end fixture or cable. Install the cable tightly so that it will not be
loosened.
‘© Conceming the service stroke, divide the whole stroke by the center and ensure sufficient allowances
both for forward and reverse.
