With the concepts learned in previous activities, the teacher
discusses and asks the following questions:
1.What is the difference between hazards and risks?
2.Name the different types of hazards and give
example.
3.How do you take action to remedy a risk or eliminate

5. What factors should be considered when looking at
the “risk” associated with a particular hazard?

REMEMBER!
S – Spot the Hazard
A – Assess the Risk
M- Make the Change

In school, the best way to remedy a hazard is to get rid of it

altogether. Removing simple hazards (such as picking up
litter or cleaning up a spill to prevent trips and slips) is
something that a work experience student may be able to
do without risk to themselves or others.
