Benefits and Cost of Ecoturism

Ecotourism can provide both direct and indirect benefits but also direct and indirect costs. Direct benefits include providing incentives to protect the environment, assisting with habitat maintenance, and generating funds to expand protected areas. Indirect benefits are fostering environmentalism and protected areas improving the environment. Direct costs are impacts from environmental restructuring/waste and tourist activities. Indirect costs include effects from included conservation, exposure to less benign tourism, and problems valuing nature economically.
