Short Adjective

1) Short adjectives form the comparative using "er" or doubling the last consonant and adding "er" (e.g. colder, sadder). Long adjectives use "more" before the adjective (e.g. more creative). 2) Exceptions are short adjectives ending in y, ow, or le, which add "er" (e.g. prettier, narrower, simpler). 3) Adjectives ending in e drop the e and add r (nicer).

1 syllable => short : cold colder than big bigger than ( If the adjective ends with consonant +
single vowel + consonant (CVC), double the final consonant)
2 syllables or more => long : dangerous more dangerous than
BUT : exception
2 syllables ending in – y, - ow, - le => short:
