 OBJECTIVE
 The work instructions cover activities to be carried out for powder coating on valves.
  •   Product painting is carried out as per the requirement given in Work Order.
  •   QC Engineer is responsible to see that the painting is carried out as per Work Order/ Customer Req.
 Application system:  Electrostatic Spray Gun with Flat jet spray nozzles
 Voltage: 60 – 90 KV
 Curing Schedule: Between 180 - 210°C for 10 - 12 mins
 Coating Finish: Glossy /Semi glossy/Matt
 Procedure
  •   Before powder coating ensure that all products/ i t e m s a r e c o m p l e t e l y d r y f r o m i n s i d e
      and outside,if any water traces or foreign material is there then dry it with
      air/cotton cloth.
  •   Surface Finish of items should be as per MSS-SP-55 and should be grease free.
  •   Before starting of painting the workplace should be properly cleaned.
  •   Load the required coating powder (Colour-Red/Blue/Black) to the spraying system.
  •   Hang the item in booth, spray the powder uniformly on all sides.
  •   Wherever powder coating is not required, carefully remove the powder from that area with
      compressed air.
  •   Hang the sprayed item on hanger stand.
  •   Start the box type furnace (Gas fired) and set heating temperature to 210C.
  •   When the furnace temperature reached 60c, open its door and place the loaded stand inside it.
  •   When the temperature reached to required temperature, then soak the items for 10 mins at same
      temperature.
  •   Turn of the furnace.
  •   Partially open the furnace door when temperature drops to 100c.
  •   When temperature drops to 60C, remove the stand from furnace and remove items from stand
  •   QC Engineer must ensure that the Quality of painting is proper by 100% visual check.
  •   If required by customer, coating thickness is measured against qty. specified in work order.
  •   Overall coating thickness shall be min. 60 micron or as specified in customer’s requirement.

Precautions
•     Make sure that that air supply to powder coating gun is dry.
•     Relative temperature of material at the time of painting shall be 25°C ±15°C.
•     Relative humidity at the time of painting shall be Max. 85%.
•     Paint Spray Gun and Object distance shall be between 9" - 12".
•     On completion of painting, powder coating gun to be properly cleaned and kept ready for next
      operation.
•     Unused powder paint must not be left open.
•     Keep in dry cool condition, Avoid Sunlight/UV light.
