    Reviewing Previous Lesson
Before we proceed to our new lesson let us find out if
you really understand your past lesson.

          b. It goes through in all objects
          c. It curves around in all objects
          d. It travels in a straight line until it hits something or

Presenting Examples/Instances of the New Lesson
       Teacher will show a pictures.
It’s a moon and earth sir.
Do you have any idea in the picture? Yes, Sir.
      is there a light?
                                                                       .
Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skill
       #1
For a very long time, scientists were not sure exactly
how light travels. Some say that light behaves like a
wave while others claim that light behaves like a group
of particles. Then, they discovered that light travels as
a wave in straight lines through empty space.
Once light is produced, it will keep travelling in a
straight line until it hits a material. Shadows are
evidence of light traveling in straight lines. They are
formed when the path of light is blocked. During
eclipse, the moon casts a shadow falling onto the
Earth. Eclipse is a shadow in space.
It happens when the light from the Sun is blocked by
the Moon or the Earth. Light travels very fast at nearly
3 00,000 km/s in vacuum space. Light is faster than
sound. Unlike sound, which needs a medium (like Yes, Sir.
solid, water or air) to travel through, light does not
need a medium to propagate or move through and can
       travel in vacuum space.

Developing Mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment)
Let’s proceed to our next activity. I prepared questions
inside the box. I will group you into three groups.
       Count
1,2,3 starts from the left. Answers the questions with
your group and present your work afterwards. Pupils will actively participate.
        I. Illustrate the given pictures and answer it.
II. What is the importance of light in our daily living?
Make a rap song about light.

Daily Living: living it brings light to us and most
of all in food in plants.
What is the importance of light in our daily living?
       Why? Nate?
                                                                   Bulb and flashlight.
       Very good. Excellent!
What are other examples of objects that can produce
       light?
       Nicole?
       Amazing. That’s right!
Making Generalizations and Abstraction About the Lesson:
Copy and complete the sentences using words from the
box. Do it in your science notebook.

materials. It travels in a ____________3. Light faster
       than the 4. __________ 5. It gives us ____________
    every day.
 Evaluating Learning:
Directions: The following pictures of objects are considered as
sources of light. Using lines, draw the path of light of each object when
    they are lighted.
                                       2.
     3. 4.
6-10. Why aiming laser pointer at a person’s head and eyes is harmful?
Additional Activities for Application or Remediation:
Directions: Cut out at least three (3) pictures of sources of light from old
magazines and paste them in your Science notebook. Using lines, draw
how light travels from its source.
