Microsoft Access Database Systems The Internship Program

Microsoft Office Access, previously known as Microsoft Access, is a relational database management system from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools. MS Access stores data in its own format based on the Access Jet Database Engine. It can also import or link directly to data stored in other applications and databases. Software developers and data architects can use Microsoft Access to develop application software, and "power users" can use it to build simple applications. Like other Office applications, Access is supported by Visual Basic for Applications, an object-oriented programming language that can reference a variety of objects including DAO (Data Access Objects).

FORMS There are mainly 3 types of forms required for the application namely 1. Agency Information 2. Internship Information 3. Student Information

Agency Information: The Agency Information forms consists the details of the agency like the name, the department, address and the contact details of the company. Many agencies offer more than one type of internship possibility. For each possible internship, the agency fills put a separate form and assigns one person as the contact for all internship questions and problems. The Agency ID is the 5 digit unique ID given to an agency. A copy of each Agency Information Form is placed in reference books in the Office of Internships.

Internship Information: The Internship Information Form consists the title of internship, the duties to be observed, a 3 digit Internship ID etc. For each possible Internship, the agency fills out separate form and assigns one person as the contact for all internship questions and problems. In addition, each internship lists a supervisor who will work with the student intern. The Internships are also classified into categories that help students to identify internships that are related to their academic interests and majors.

Student Information Form: When a student gets an Internship, the student and the agency establish a Learning Contract, outlining the goals to be accomplished during the internship. The student then fills the Student Internship Form to provide basic information to the office files. It includes the name, address and the academic details of the student like the major and GPA etc.

REPORTS: There are 3 main reports that can be created in this application. 1. Student Interns: The alphabetical listing of the students taking intern under a specific agency and the title of the internship. This report can be used to observe how many students are undergoing internship at certain point of time and helpful in managing the students accordingly. 2. Internship Agencies: The alphabetical listing of all the Internship agencies with the department and the name of the contact person. This report is useful

3. Internships by Category: The category-wise listing of the Internships that is in progress with the internship ID, title and the description.
