Physics 2 - Midterm Activity

This document contains a student assignment on physics concepts related to magnetism and conductance. It asks 5 questions about magnetism, Faraday's law, the formula for conductance, the standard unit of conductance, and calculating the conductance of a conductor with a resistance of 5 ohms. The student provides short answers to each question. The document also includes references at the end in APA citation style.

1. What is Magnetism?

It is the force generated by a magnet or magnetic field. It can repel or attract metallic
element such as iron, nickel and cobalt. Magnetism has many important role in our daily life,
such as the rotation of electric fan, compasses for navigation, or even your in your refrigerant
door where you place your note day by day.

2. What is Faraday’s Law?

Faraday’s Law states about how magnets can produced electricity. It is simply the
opposite how electric fan works, because electricity is the reason why the motor rotate. On the
other hand it is the principle on why we generate electricity from nature. An example of this is
the dam, the kinetic energy of the water makes the turbine rotate, this rotation of the turbine
crates a electric energy

3. What is the formula of conductance?

The formula of conductance is the reciprocal of resistance. Given by the formula, G =

1/R, where G is the conductance and R is the resistance.

4. What is the standard unit of conductance?

Name after Werner von Siemens, the standard unit of conductance is Siemens (S).

5. What is the conductance of a conductor of resistance 5 ohms?
