Your being “sandiwa” (one in mind) with the community requires that your
presence be a manifestation of fairness. You, as a student promote a liberating
presence. Explore this with the guidance of the following questions:
1. Do you relate with others with fairness and honesty? How?
Yes, I do. There are times when some of my friends lose in simple
arguments especially in politics as elections comes nearer. In honesty, I
let them know the reasons (in my opinion) why they lost or what made
them wrong and try to let them know what I know is right. However, to
be fair, I also acknowledge things that they are making sense of and let
them feel that somehow, they are also right.
2. Does your presence mirror a just God? In what way/s?
Yes, as He is my basis of what is true. For example, I meet people who
have different ideologies than mine. My guide to this in a way, I believe
that there is no absolute right or wrong. The way we answer is based on
what we experience. In judging people, I always try first to understand
the roots of that person which helps me on how to treat him/her. After
that, I reconsider my ideologies and it would be either accept my wrong
belief and convert to the better one or show them that what I believe is
somehow making more sense. If they respond negatively then at least I
have said my points and I would then let them think about it by ending
the conversation or shifting to other topics.
3. Describe the concrete ways your presence proclaims the liberating acts of
God in the midst of your family, friends, and colleagues.
I think the best example that I do that liberates people, for example, my
friends is by saying the truth. There are times when I feel that I am on
better track than others are. I know that I have better judgement on a
certain topic that is why I share my truth. When people agree with me,
it’s somehow feels that I have been the key to some shackles. That I have
made them realize that something is better and I can say that my
presence proclaimed the liberating acts of God.
