Reflection on Midyear Performance Review & Evaluation

& In-service Training (INSET) 2023

To engage in further education or training to refresh or upgrade ones professional knowledge, skills and
practices is both a responsibility and an honor.
Midyear Performance Review and Evaluation and In-service Training (INSET) 2023, took place last February 6-
10, 2023 in Ozamiz City National High School. It was an annual program made possible by DepEd to help teachers
acquire new understanding and instructional skills to develop their effectiveness in the classroom.
The first two days was all about the makings of the IPCRF by Ma’am Alie A. Bongcawil. She took the time to
discussed the IPCRF to the teachers individually. While the third day’s venue is at the Plenary Hall, having Mrs.
Jennifer Tadlas, from the English Department, as the Mistress of the Ceremonies.
The INSET houses the different learning approaches, classroom management, and different types of
assessment. Ma’am Lilibeth Y. Abamonga talked about the Learner-Centered Approaches, Ma’am Thelma A.
Moreno also discussed about the Constructivism Learning Approach. The floor was also given to Ma’am Arlyn U.
Granada, where she talked about Inquiry-Based Approach, while Ma’am Cheryl C. Magbanua talked about
Reflective Approach and many more speakers.
We were also given the chance to assess ourselves on how we create different types of assessment, from the
essay type of test by Ma’am Alie A. Bongcawil to the alternate response true/false and completion type of test by
Ma’am Miguela L. Sy.
Having this kind of training is a responsibility, for the reason that we, teachers, are responsible to bring
quality education. We are the ones to hone and develop the individual capacity which was not yet discovered
from our diamonds. This training ensures that upon opening the doors of knowledge, we were already equipped
to face theses 21st century learners. For without this training, it would be a bloodbath for both parties, the
students as well as the teachers.
INSET is also an honor, probably because t’was my first time. I felt envy especially to my friends and former
classmates who were able to make it and be part of the system. I was jealous of the idea on having such

opportunity to enhance our skill, gain more knowledge and be more updated in the new norm most importantly
as we are catering digital natives. It was also an honor and a privilege to be able to discuss with other teachers, to
brainstorm and gain insights due to loads of activities given by the speakers. Through this training, we were able
to acknowledge the importance of collaborative learning due to firsthand experience.
Bottomline, Inset is and will always be important for both experienced and those teachers who are novice to
the teaching profession to get a hang of innovative pedagogy, interactive assessment techniques and use of
differentiation in the classroom to enliven the teaching-learning process.
