PROJECT DETAILS
2.1 NGO also realized that merely imparting literacy would not sufficient. The women
need vocational training or skills also to uplift their status. They should be able to
stand on their feet and be an earning member of the family.
This Project is for the benefit of poor needy widows, abused Women, unemployed
Girls and House mothers living below the poverty line in backward area of
Faridabad District. The project aims to equip the women with a skill that will help
them to improve their living standards and generate income for their families.
Through shared learning the women befit form a sense of commitment and
motivation in addition to gaining a value skill. Under this scheme 240 Women/girls
will be covered at the one Centres at Faridabad district, Haryana and grant support
individually in accordance with the Budget provision besides to pay the honorarium
to the Training Instructors respectively from time to time.
Today’s clothing is a medium of expression of creative skills of the designer and
the skills of a fabricator. Stitching is the basic skill which transforms the
preconceived idea, which is expressed as “design” into its practical usable form of
“garment” or a “style”.
Stitching is the craft of fastening or attaching objects using stitches made with a
needle and thread. Sewing is used in garment making and also in a variety of
crafts and industries which include upholstery, furnishing and sports goods. It is a
vocational stream and the fundamental process underlying a variety of textile arts
and crafts including embroidery, quilting and patch work.
Clothing is an expensive investment in the present age and time for most people
and women have an important role in purchasing, producing and using items of
clothing. While in rural India much clothing is still produced at home by female
members of the family, more and more ready-made clothes for the middle classes
are being produced with sewing machines. Needlework and stitching is one of the
few occupations considered acceptable for women. It can be practiced at home or
at small scale cottage industry level since it provides the opportunity of flexible
timing. In today’s scenario, before sewing an article of clothing, a pattern is
Flood Relief Camp Pg. 9
generally used to construct the garment. A pattern can be quite simple. Some
patterns are nothing more than a mathematical formula that is used for stitching a
garment based on the intended wearer's measurements.
These days most clothing is mass produced and conforms to standard sizes, which
are based on body measurements that are intended to fit the largest proportion of
the population. However, while "standard" sizes generally provide a useful
guideline, there is no industry standard that is both widely accepted and strictly
adhered to by the producers.
The course of “Tailoring, Stitching & Dress Designing” is an effort to develop
stitching skills in an individual which would not only help one generate newer forms
of design but also would provide a sound footage in guiding a skilled person to
transform the idea into a garment.
2.3 Brief about the targeted beneficiaries under proposed CSR project
The beneficiaries that would be target in this project will be the underprivileged
people, illiterate people, women, Children, and other community people living in
nearby SLUMS OF Delhi area.
Special focus will also be given on providing public health information to the
villages by their own members, in their own language, in their local center, at a
time where the numbers is maximum. This will give the greatest impact of the
project.
2.4 Methodology of the selection of the beneficiaries and number of
beneficiaries in detail.
The association firmly believes in conducting survey as primary information for
taking up any developmental projects in any area. The association conducted
preliminary survey to know the socio-economic condition in the special reference
to take women related projects especially in Skill Development Training. Majority
of populations are engaged informal activities for earning their livelihood.
