Safety Information 0
The “Safety Information“ contained in the system manual and in the particular unit instruc-
             tions must be observed.
Integrated circuits and circuit boards on which MOS components are installed call for par-
ticularly careful handling because of their highly sensitive electrical structures and because
of their extremely high input resistance. The ESD regulations that apply for electrostati-
             cally-sensitive components must be observed.
Required Parts 0

This procedure describes the steps necessary to install the Radis VB21 SW on the AXIOM
Aristos Image System for the 1st time, e.g. only if VB10 or VB20 was on the system
                                                            before.
                                                            • The following is an outline of some of the work steps that will be covered in this chapter:
                                                            Tab. 6 Work Steps
Check the Med CS Intranet/Extranet for the latest version of this document (For Service ->
Product Information) or contact your local Siemens office if you do not have access to the
             Siemens Intranet/Extranet.
To avoid extra work, check the XCS SSW to determine whether the collimator SW is lower
than VC00N. If so, follow the following work steps. If not, skip this paragraph.
             • Go to the download location on the CS Home page: For Service > Product Informa-
tion > AX Systems > Radiography > Direct Technique > Software.
             • The required download file is the 10092710_OT_II_VC00N.exe and is located under
                  the description Collimator G052G.
             • Double-click on it and unzip it to a folder of your choice on the C or D drive of your ser-
                  vice PC.
             • You will find two files in the folder: CollimatorSWLoader.exe and
SW_D21_TBN_OT_II_VC00N.H86. Keep them there for later use.
Preparations 2.2
Log files 0
             1. Unlock the access to Windows® with Tab - Del - Transfer image (“+”).
             2. Press the Windows® key, and then Run; enter radissysinfo > OK.
3. Press Start.
5. The log file will be created and saved to the selected directory.
               8. Copy the compressed log file (2/Fig. 5 / p. 15) to a USB stick or similar medium, and
keep it ready in case it is requested by RSC/HSC/QIB/DCU.
¹ The log files look like this: “Log<date>_<time>.zip“
               9. If a customer complaint has to be filed, send the file along with the complaint to Health-
                  care AX Complaint.
Backup 0
The following configurations have to be saved manually because they are related to Win-
dows® and therefore are not backed up with the syngo backup.
               • Make a note of the service key:
                    - Options > Service > Local Service...
Service Key
             • Make a note of the host name (= computer name) and the IP addresses:
                 - Options > Service > Local Service... > Configuration > TCP/IP LAN
                 - Home > close the window.
                 IP address
                 Subnet mask
                 Default gateway
                 Customer Configuration:
                 - > Options > Configuration.. > Regional and Language...
                 - “Regional Options”: Make a note of the date and time format.
                 - “ Languages > Details...”: Make a note of the language and keyboard.
                 Date Format
                 Time Format
                 Language
                 Keyboard (input locales)
Network Speed
Select the Advanced tab card, read the value for Speed & Duplex or Link
Speed & Duplex and make a note of it.
The following work steps describe how to create backups of “SW Settings 02” on CD, “SW
Settings, Calibration” on CD, “Customer OGPs” on floppy (or USB stick) (the other pack-
ages do not have to be saved because there are newer versions with the new VB21 SW).
             • To do this, go to:
                 > Options > Service > Local Service > Backup & Restore
                  Server name
                  TCP/IP address
             • Options > Service > local Service > Configuration > System Mgmt.
Deselect all check boxes in the Agent Control window and start with Go in the Action
                 Bar.
Uninstalling System Management (MNP) in VB10x:
             • The following screen displays the restore progress (Fig. 16 / p. 25). This will take a
                  while ...
                  - If the medium set consists of more than one CD/DVD, you will be prompted to insert
                    the next medium.
¹ Follow the instructions on the screen.
                  - When the restore has ended, a success message is shown in a new screen
                    (Fig. 17 / p. 25).
                  - Close the success window with <OK>.
                  - Remove the Ghost image from the drive and close the tray.
¹ The window will close and the PC starts to reboot.
             • After restart, enter only the host name (= computer name) that was noted before.
                  Do NOT change the password.
             • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Switch to Classic View > Network Con-
                  nections.
             • Highlight “Local Area Connection” and right mouse-click on “Properties”.
             • Highlight “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and click on “Properties”.
             • Check or set “Use the following IP address”. (There must be a fixed IP address and
NOT DHCP.) Insert the correct IP address (noted down before).
             • Confirm by clicking on “OK”.
             • Set the network speed to the value noted down before:
Without selecting anything, click on Configure.
Select the Advanced tab card and set the value for Speed & Duplex or Link Speed
& Duplex to the value previously noted.
             • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Date and Time.
             • Go to the “Time Zone” tab card and set the correct time zone.
             • Place a checkmark in “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes”.
             • Confirm by clicking on “Apply”.
             • Go to the “Date & Time” tab card and set the correct date and time.

             • Unlock Windows® by pressing “Tab + Del. + Send (Num field)” and open the Win-
                 dows® Explorer.
             • Navigate to C:\post_clone_tools\Postclone.bat.
             • Double-click on C:\post_clone_tools\Postclone.bat.
                 > OK.
             • Connect all cables.
In some cases, the mouse cursor sticks in the top right corner when the RADIS PC is con-
nected to the XCU; this is because the RADIS PC thinks that an RS232 mouse is con-
nected to its RS232 interface and interprets the signals from the XCU as a "mouse
command". To prevent this, the RS232 mouse must be disabled on the RADS PC.
             • Select Start > Run > "devmgmt.msc" using the "Windows® key", the arrow keys and
                  the Enter key.
             Fig. 20:
             • After starting the Device Manager, select the "Mice and other pointing devices"
hardware components and select the context menu with the right mouse button.
             • Connect the serial XCU service cable to the Radis PC.
             • Select "Scan for hardware changes".
                  - If the serial cable is connected, the serial mouse driver will be found and the mouse
cursor will begin to move by itself.
                  - If the “mice and other pointing devices” was not found, repeat “scan for hard-
                    ware changes” several times.
             Fig. 21:
             • Press Alt + Tab to activate the Device Manager window.
             • Use the up/down arrow keys to navigate to "Mice and other pointing devices" (use
left/right arrow keys to open the sub-menus).
             Fig. 22:
             • Select "Microsoft Serial Ball Point".
             • Press Enter.
             • Press Tab until "Device Usage" is selected.
             • Use the up/down arrow keys to select "Do not use this device (disable)".
             Fig. 23:
             • The mouse for this hardware profile will now be deactivated for COM 1 and the Device
Manager will display a red cross in front of the deactivated component.
Fig. 24:
             • Loosen the two No. 2 Allen screws (1/Fig. 25 / p. 41). Swing out the front panel of the
                  collimator.
If there is no FX, skip this chapter and go to (Checking and Activating System Management
(only if remote is configured) / p. 49).
NOTICE Before starting a download, disable the screen saver and any
power-saving features which might shut down the PC unex-
pectedly! This update takes approx. 30...45 min. and should
be done parallel to the Radis update using the Service PC.
Screen shots do not always show the correct software ver-
                                      sions.
¹ Follow chapter headlines, notes and hints closely!
             • Connect the Service PC to the gateway master (use the short adapter cable) or use the
                 Radis PC.
If using the Service PC: Make sure that the latest FX Service SW is installed.
             • If using the Radis PC, go to C:\SSW\Aristos\Aristos.exe to start the Aristos FX SSW:
                 - Log in with your name. The password is "_Siemens" (case-sensitive!).
             • Perform a backup with SSW Aristos FX > Backup/Restore > Backup ...by pressing
                 the backup button.
             • In the SSW, select Aristos FX > Backup/Restore > Download (1/Fig. 28 / p. 45).
             • Check whether the clutch power settings are correct according to Speed Info 21929:
Set the clutch power to 0%....
To do so, enter the Aristos FX SSW in developer mode (a developer password for 2010
can be found in the Knowledge Base).
Click on SSW Aristos FX > Development > GW Config > Mechanical offset.
Click on Read. Change all values to 0 in the Clutch Power column.
                 Click on Save.
Switch the entire system off and on and check the function.
             • Wait until the SW has downloaded. After the program has downloaded, an audible sig-
nal is sounded (TOOT-TA-TOOT) (three beeps).
             • Remove the floppy.
             • Reboot the XCU by unplugging and plugging in the "XCU X1" power connector.
             • Switch the system off completely (hold the switch at the control cabinet for more than 3
                  sec.) and switch on again.
             • Click on the buttons Update Cmp Ver and Update IF Ver. Check the software version
of all components (Fig. 30 / p. 47) against the provided the Compatibility List (the
screen shot is just an example!).
             • To test the Connectivity, click on the Test button. Since this is a very time-critical action,
it is possible that a connection will not be immediately established. Because of this, sev-
                 eral attempts should be made.
¹ The server must send back a message, e.g.:
NOTE If outside NAT is configured, the test function will not work
and the message “...not alive” will be displayed.
The new server name and IP address will then have to be reg-
istered with the local administrator and the SRS Help Desk.
Despite this, continue to the next step of the installation.
NOTE If the text under Status is underlined, a link to the error mes-

AXIOM Aristos Image System when a VB21 was installed before, e.g. after a system
                                                       crash.
                                                       • Here is a guideline of what will be covered (among other things) in this chapter:
                                                       Tab. 7 Work Steps
Creating a repair plan is the best way to ensure that all necessary steps are performed in
an efficient way and that multiple visits after setup of the PC are avoided.
             • Identify the SW version before the crash (possibly consider open patches or new ver-
                  sions - > to save time) .
List all performed updates and remote updates available in the update handling tool /
country SAP (notifications)] and the sequence of updates that need to be installed.
             • Check whether a virus protection contract exists -> if yes, download the latest released
scan engine + latest virus pattern from the Intranet.
             • Options & Licenses:
Check whether there is a distribution list (ROD Remote Options Distribution) [current
on-site license file + ROD] using the remote connection.
             • Download all needed remote updates, incl. UI (by CSE (on laptop HD) or by USC (pre-
                  pare DVD etc. if applicable))
             • If a virus is suspected, check the system using the bootable virus scanner.
             • Check the external removable devices (CD, DVD, USB stick, USB disk) if a virus is sus-
                  pected.
             • Unplug the network cable (virus protection).
             • Install the latest Ghost image.
             • Install all required updates and remote updates.
             • If a virus protection contract exists, install the latest virus pattern.
             • Install the remote option (ROD), if required.
             • Plug in the network cable only after all remote updates and virus patterns (VP) have
                  been installed.
Preparations 3.2
NOTE Please consider the steps created in the repair plan. Prior to
a new installation, all patients must be archived from the
local database, because the database is over-written during
                                      the new installation.
Log files 0
              4. Copy the compressed log file (2/Fig. 69 / p. 71) to a USB stick or similar medium, and
keep it ready in case it is requested by RSC/HSC/QIB/DCU.
¹ The log files look like this: “Log<date>_<time>.zip“
              5. If a customer complaint has to be filed, send the file along with the complaint to Health-

Go back to the Local Service > Configuration menu.
Make a note of the settings for System Mgmt.:
                  Server name
                  TCP/IP address
                  Local Host NAT
                  Network adapter
             • The following screen displays the restore progress (Fig. 75 / p. 77). This will take a
                  while ...
                  - If the medium set consists of more than one CD/DVD, you will be prompted to insert
                    the next medium.
¹ Follow the instructions on the screen.
                  - When the restore has ended, a success message is shown in a new screen
                    (Fig. 76 / p. 77).
                  - Close the success window with <OK>.
                  - Remove the FD recovery image from the drive and close the tray.

             • Insert the Aristos RADIS Patch VB21C CD into the CD drive.
             • Navigate to the CD/DVD drive with the Windows® Explorer.
             • Double-click on ParamUpdate.exe.
             • The patch installation will begin; installation may take 15 ...20 sec.
             • Click on OK.
             • Insert the software CD-Rom according the Compatibility List for the AXIOM Aristos
MX/VX, TX or FX/FX Plus into the CD drive.
             • Open “Windows® Explorer”, select the CD-Rom drive and double-click on the
“start.exe” file. The Installer window opens.
             • Click on the link under "Service PC (+ Download Software) ...".
             • If queried, choose Full Install.
             • Choose Continue > OK.
Check for the latest Licenses (according to the Repair Plan) 3.8
             • To do this:
                  - Go to Options > Service > Local Service... > Configuration
                  - > Next
                  - > Licensing
                  - Insert the data medium with the new License.dat (it is possible that the new license
file still needs to be renamed to “license.dat”).
                  - Click on “Browse..” and go to the new “license.dat”.
                  - Click on “Open” > “Import License file” and confirm with “OK”.
                  - Select “Home” and close the window.
                  - Reboot the Radis PC: Options > End Session... > Restart System... > Yes
The new server name and IP address also have to be regis-
tered with the local administrator and SRS Help Desk.
Despite this, continue to the next step of the installation.
NOTE If the text under Status is underlined, a link to the error mes-
                                     sage is overlaid. See (1/Fig. 81 / p. 84).

The reason for a failed installation could be that fragments from the old installation were not
completely deleted. Following a failed installation, a low level formatting of both hard drives
should be performed prior to making a second attempt. To do this:
             • During the reboot, press the "CTRL + A" keys.
             • Confirm the selection.
             • Under "Options", select "SCSI Disk Utilities" with the arrow keys.
             • Confirm the selection with Enter.
             • Select the 1st hard drive (SCSI ID #0) in the table.
             • Confirm the "Format Disk" selection with Enter.
             • Confirm the safety inquiry with "Yes".
             • Repeat the procedure for the 2nd hard drive (SCSI ID #1) and then exit the Adaptec
                 tool.
