Build some traps to catch the evil pea!
What will you use?
Add the vegetables and write out the number
sentences (for example 3+6=9)
Challenge – now try adding to 20. Don’t forget to
write out the number sentences.

You could make a fruit salad and write the

amount of each fruit you used.
Subtraction Squash
Can a grown up make you some number
sentences using evil peas? Start with numbers
below 10 then work up to 20. Have fun
squashing the evil peas.

Your grown up can even make up a

subtraction problem solving story, such as;
6 evil peas were trying to escape, Supertato
managed to catch 3 of them, how many evil peas
got away?
See if your child can help to read the words
below. Get them to choose some words to
describe Supertato (on the next page)

brave happy friendly

mad clever fast
helpful kind fun
red cape black orange
belt gloves
hero shiny strong
mask teeth
nasty mad silly
Write the words to describe Supertato.
Now use those words to write some
sentences, for example;

Supertato is clever and strong.

He has a black mask and shiny teeth.
He has red boots on his feet.
He can run.
Now you could make your own super vegetable.

Design your super vegetable on paper and label

their powers and outfit. Now for the fun! Get
your vegetable and use materials, scissors and
tape to create your very own super vegetable.

Can you write a story about how your super

vegetable will save the day?

What superpowers did they use?

Can you write a list of healthy foods that could

be in your story?
Read the sentences and match them to the
pictures

It was dark in the

supermarket.
“Help!”, said the
vegetables.
Supertato to the
rescue!
Supertato helped the
vegetables.
“It was an evil pea,”
Now you’re good at reading them, can you print
off (or write out) the sentences and mix them up
and put them back in the right order to match
the pictures? Can you write your own superhero
story?
We hope you enjoy doing some ‘SUPER’ learning.

Don’t forget to share with us on Tapestry.
