Introduction to EWM

 This is not extension of WM


 EWM has more functionalities than WM
 Evolution of EWM

 Under Plant, basically we can define separate storage location(facility) based on the
stock types (Quality, Blocked, Unrestricted etc)
 EWM helps to track and trace the material anywhere within the warehouse premises
 Embedded EWM was released in 2016 with S/4 HANA 1610 version
 Embedded EWM has 2 types of licenses- Basic & Advanced
 Basic License includes functionalities like – Receiving, Shipping, Storage, Production
Integration, Physical Inventory, Replenishment, Posting changes and many other
options.
 Advanced License includes functionalities like Wave Management, Kitting, VAS, CD,
Labor Management etc.
 Basic on your business requirement we need to choose the license.

 In SCM- EWM, the master data shall be ciffed from ECC to EWM
 Whereas in Embedded EWM, you don’t need to transfer the master data since EWM
lies in the same server.
 EWM is not as tightly integrated as WM with the help of movement types with other
modules
 Dec- EWM vs Embedded EWM, Functionality wise is more or less is the same.
