INTRODUCTION

Most of the specified maintenance intervals are based on Central

European tests, trials and experience; this means they may not
necessarily apply to other countries.

In the case of vehicles which are operated under extreme

application conditions, e.g.
− prolonged extremely low or high outside temperatures,
− extremely high atmospheric humidity,
− frequent driving on poor surfaces (unconsolidated, dusty roads)
− frequent fording, especially in salt water, etc.

and/or if service products that do not fulfil MAN requirements in

every respect are used, shorter maintenance intervals must be
selected in order to prolong the life expectancy of your vehicle.
Please talk to MAN Service or your importer who will be only too
glad to help in any way. So that your MAN vehicle gives you
"happy motoring" for a long time to come.

This brochure is divided into the following main sections:

− Maintenance systems
− Service products
− Major component fill quantities.

For more precise details, please refer to the table of contents on

pages 5 – 7 as well as the index on pages 73 – 78.

MAINTENANCE SYSTEM BASED ON MAINTENANCE GROUPS

MAINTENANCE TYPES
(key to the following maintenance interval surveys)

E = Running-in service
due after 1000 to 5000 km
However, if the 6 months are reached beforehand in maintenance group "C", the running-in service is due after 6 months.

F = Mileage-dependent maintenance work

which is due after a certain number of kilometres or operating hours, depending on the maintenance group, and which must
be performed in addition to maintenance type Z.
Type: F 1 = Interim lubrication service (only required if no central lubrication system is installed. In the case of difficult
application conditions, we recommend lubricating the propshafts in between).
F 2 and F 3 = Services

Z = Time-dependent maintenance work

to be performed in addition to maintenance type F, regardless of mileage.
Type: Z 1 = Additional work (every 6 months)
Z 2 = Additional work (every 12 months)

Important!
Please refer to relevant MAN maintenance lists, MAN maintenance manuals or manufacturer's documentation for maintenance intervals
not specified in this booklet, e.g. for steering system, steering knuckle bearings, wheel bearings, major components from other suppliers
etc.

SERVICE PRODUCTS

SERVICE PRODUCTS

For details regarding approved service product quality, refer to the "Item
name and specifications" column in the "SPECIFICATIONS" survey on
pages 39 to 58. The specifications in bold type generally indicate the
best quality service products available, which are recommended by MAN
and used for the factory fill.
The guarantee / warranty conditions stipulate the use of approved service
products since these products ensure the required level of performance.
If the stipulated quality is not available, approved alternatives are listed in
the "Alternative specifications" column. In such cases, the supplier or
manufacturer must provide a legally binding declaration which states that
the product fulfils the relevant MAN specifications in all respects.
If such products are used without MAN permission, the warranty /
guarantee shall be deemed null and void in the event of any damage.

Approval of service products

Service products are approved for a maximum of 2 years. If the supplier /
manufacturer so requests, we can extend the approval for a further two
years provided that the quality has not changed (see sample letter of
approval opposite).
Therefore, before purchasing a product, make sure that it is still
approved by having the supplier produce the letter of approval or
consult the MAN Intranet or MAN homepage on the internet:

pumps can be operated with aviation turbine fuel. It is not
permitted to operate engines with the above fuels if they are
fitted with mechanically and electrically controlled
distributor-type injection pumps (VE.., VP 44 ...) and common-
rail injection system. The lower density and viscosity, coupled
with the boiling range and lack of lubricity compared to diesel fuel,
means that reduced engine power, increased leakage at the
injection pump and a shorter injection system lifetime are all to be
expected.
Further disadvantages include poorer engine starting
characteristics as well as worse emission levels.

Note: Technical clarification with MAN is required in the case of

special-purpose applications using these fuels (MIL).
