Roborace Rulebook

The document describes the rules and specifications for a robotics competition called Pathblazer (Roborace). Teams must create a bot within size limits that can navigate obstacles on a track to reach checkpoints and the endpoint. The track contains obstacles like zigzags, bridges, moving disks, and gates. Teams earn points for reaching checkpoints and are penalized for bot damage or skipping obstacles. PATH BLAZER

(Robo Race)

Task
The primary objective of the “Pathblazer” (Roborace) is
that participating teams have to
create a bot that navigates obstacles on the track and
reaches the endpoint.

Bot Specifications
• The dimensions of the bot must not exceed
300 mm x 300 mm x 200 mm (I x b x h).
• Bot must be controlled manually.
• The Machine cannot be constructed using ready-made
‘Lego kits’ or any ready-made mechanism. But they
can make use of readymade gear assemblies.
• Failing to meet any of the above specifications will lead
to disqualification of the team.

Arena
• The width of the path is 400mm.
• There are five checkpoints in the arena
A, B, C, D, and E.
• From the START mark to checkpoint A there
are 2 obstacles.
1
• In between checkpoints A and B, B and C, C and D, and
D and E there are 2 obstacles placed.
• From checkpoint E to the END mark there's one obstacle.
• The bot needs to navigate these obstacles and finally
reach the endpoint.
• The arena contains two surprise obstacles.
• The details of surprise obstacles are published on the
day of the event, and participants refrain from
commenting on them.

L Rules
• Only two members of the team are allowed to handle
and operate the bot.
• The bot should not damage the arena.
• In case of arena damage team will be immediately
disqualified.
• The bot should not break or split into two or more
parts during the run. In such a case the team will be
disqualified immediately.
• The bot would be checked for safety before starting
and disqualified if found unsafe for other players.
• The bots will be given five minutes to prepare their bots
for the race.
• If a participant team fails to start the bot after 5 minutes
the team will be disqualified.
• No one can comment on the referee's decision.

2
Gameplay
• The race begins with the teams launching their bot
from a START mark.
• Checkpoints are strategically placed throughout the
course.
• The bot must navigate between checkpoints without
damaging the obstacles.
• The width of the zig-zag track is 300 mm.
• The width of the bridge is 400 mm.
• The moving disk is placed at 160 mm
height from the ground.
• The pit box is placed at 280 mm height from the ground.
• The bridge is placed at 250 mm height from the ground.
• The moving disks have a 600 mm diameter.
• The gate continuously opens and closes at 90 degrees.
• If in case the team is unable to cross the obstacle then
the team can choose to skip the obstacle.
• If an obstacle is skipped then the points will be
deducted.
• If the bot goes out of the track then start it from the
previous checkpoint.
• During the game if any of the team members touch
the bot without the approval of the organizer then
the bot has to start from the previous checkpoint.
• During the game bot has to cover all checkpoints and
finally reach the final endpoint then only the race
will be completed.

General Rules
• Team members will not be allowed to step into the
arena.
• Only organizers are allowed in any situation.

• Participants cannot keep anything inside the arena
besides their robots.
• Electronic devices are not allowed near the arena.
• The bot must not damage the arena.
• Each team will get only one attempt.

Team Specifications
• A team may consist of 2 to a maximum of 4 members.

Penalties
• In case of hand touches 5 points will be
deducted.
• If the bot willingly skips any checkpoint
10 extra points will be deducted.

4
Scoring System
• For completing each checkpoint 30 points will
be awarded.
• In case of tie in score then the minimum time
taken by the bot to reach the endpoint will be
the winner.
• If in any case tie in the score and of timing the
winner will be determined based on the
minimum number of hand touches.
• The score given by organizers is final and the
team has no rights to comment on it.

Note
• The dimensions of the arena will be accurate to
within 5% or 20 mm, whichever is less or more.
• ± 5 % error in bot dimension is allowed.
• In case of any disputes, the organizer's decision
