Activity 2.

1 Defining Beauty
Complete the sentences below

1. For me, beauty means having a beautiful soul and a kind heart. Why? Because
anyone can become beautiful in the outer or outside appearance only through
surgery but it is rare to see a person who is beautiful not only outside but as well
as inside. In short, a person who is beautiful inside and out. Usually, people tend
to judge a person based on his/her looks. If he or she is beautiful physically, they
would automatically say that he/she is kind. But that is not always the case.
Sometimes, those beautiful people they admire are those who do not have a
beautiful soul and kind heart. They are the ones who look down on others and
laugh at the misery of others instead of helping them. I believe, defining beauty
by just having a beautiful face, sexy body, fair and white skin is too shallow.
Beauty should not be based not only on the outside physical appearance of a
person but also on one’s kindness of the heart and soul or his attitude,
demeanor, and behavior.

2. A beautiful person is a person who has a pure soul and a kind heart. Pure soul in
the sense that he or she knows what is right from wrong and always acts based
on the goodness of his heart as well as his or her conscience. On the other hand,
a kind heart is having empathy for others, and in times of need, he or she is
willing to lend a helping hand. This only shows that a beautiful person is not only
a person who has a sexy and hunk body, a perfect symmetry face, white skin, a
perfect set of teeth, long-legged legs, Angelina Jolie lips, etc. but a person is
beautiful and will always be beautiful even one is not gifted of those enumerated
things because he or she is blessed with a pure soul and kind heart. However, a
beautiful person will always be subjective to the eye of the beholder which means
that a beautiful person varies depending on one’s perspective and we cannot
insist that what we see as beautiful will be beautiful to others if they see such
person as ugly not physically but because she is unkind and selfish.

3. I am beautiful because I believe that not only do I have a beautiful face but I am
also kind, helpful, and have a pure soul. I am lucky and blessed that I was born
with a good face. I am thankful for my parent’s genes. Some people, especially
my girlfriend, always say that I look like EJ Falcon. I am happy whenever they
praise me. But it is incomparable to the joy I feel whenever I help other people
even in my own simple way. The beauty inside will always prevail over beauty
outside.
