Being the group leader in my EumInd group has been one indelible journey.
My main aim was to
bring out the best of my team members and ensure that I portrayed to the world the sunny side of
them. To me the most memorable task was shooting the introduction video. The entire process
was absurdly beautiful, it talked a lot about the dynamics and synergy of our team. Since it was
the very start of EumInd, the enthusiasm oozed out from us but we had no clue on where to start.
After a point, we got tired and hungry. And they came to rescue our dear Maggi. Since we
wanted a theme which represented and matched the idea behind our name “Curry Connect”
nothing was better than maggi. We had found our “the one” idea. Our script was so perfectly
curated. The perfect dash of funny, a pinch of intellectual knowledge and two tablespoons of
creativity made our Curry perfect.
In this process I learned and unlearned a lot of stuff I believed in. Everything did not have to go
as we planned. In a team..we together come up with greater ideas and even better when they are
impromptu. Trusting the process is important and nothing can work without trusting your team
members. In the leadership role..I gradually found myself trusting my team so much That I found
it almost difficult to make a decision without them.
To me personally, I think the interaction with the partner school went the best. Our team single
handedly presented to them the vibrancy of our culture and it would be safe to say that the
students were awestruck. We were so content and proud of ourselves by the end of the day. Our
partner school students were so sweet and kind…They helped us understand the reality of the
customs followed.
One thing I learnt from these students was that taking pride in your customs and rituals is
something that is really important and it isn’t something that makes you seem less cooler than
others.
When it comes to the bonus points I think we deserve it the most. One, because 4 out 5 people in
our group made the presentation during the video call which was much appreciated. We put in
more or the equal amount of effort into it as our personal project. We have treated EumInd as our
little baby and safe to say been the Crème de la crème of it. Second, We have ensured to show
the intricacies of our culture, keep our roots intact and yet move on with the fast paced ideas and
opinions which shows how Indian culture is fluid and evolving. Our group has been very
responsive and as the group leader, I have been the witness of the fact that none of the members
lacked in their role. We have beautifully, responsibly done our role and shined beautifully as a
group
                                                                                       - Khanjan
Our group had the theme of weddings and we had to exchange our cultures through weddings. I
helped write the script for the sitcom and I played the part of Lily in the sitcom. I loved editing
the behind the scenes video also.
The most memorable experience for me was the video conference. The video conference allowed
us to interact with our peers overseas. We talked about a lot of other topics and gave our views.
We later exchanged numbers and created a WhatsApp group where we are still in touch with
each other.
In my opinion everything we did went well. We worked out great as a team and I had so much
fun. The sitcom was the most fun to film. There were times when we just couldn’t stop laughing.
I don’t think I would have done anything differently, I loved every minute of this program.
                                                                                              - Tria
Throughout the course of this programme, there have been multiple ways in which I have
contributed to the group work. During the first exchange meeting, I helped with questions and
games that we played with them. I also made the video explaining our culture and traditions
myself. My most memorable experience was when we were filming the sitcom and how well my
group and I worked together and how quickly we got everything done and submitted. I
developed a sense of group working through this and also leadership as there were moments
when I had to take charge. Honestly, everything went well. We worked hard and submitted
everything on time and I just enjoyed the process. Working together brought all of us together
and instilled an unbreakable bond. There is nothing that I would have done differently because I
thoroughly loved these past few months with my group. I learnt a lot from our partner group.
They taught us more about their culture and their traditions. They taught us how everything
works in their country, their laws, customs, etc.
                                                                                           - Vir
Our main tasks entailed creating a television sitcom of about 12-15 minutes, incorporating a
single mutually agreed upon topic taking into account both cultures- Dutch and Indian and an
introduction video, portraying our personalities. Personally, I did the work of editing and
beautifying the weebly website and also brainstorming the concepts and dialogues for both the
videos.
My most memorable experience was definitely the shooting of the sitcom as it was something I
hadn’t done before - dressing up and role playing for the camera. In terms of character building, I
developed a lot of patience and learned the importance of compromising as not everything goes
as we want it always and that’s okay.
I believe our team effort, collaboration and camaraderie were the things that helped us sail
through the entire experience beautifully. The deadlines were a bit of a problem as not everyone
was available at the same time, adhering to which is something I would have done differently.
Also the partner school seemed slightly unenthusiastic which was a little disappointing.
We learned that the portrayal of cultures in media and the reality are completely different and the
media often perpetuates stereotypes which is a huge let down for someone who’s actually
interested in the research of another culture. However, by interacting with them we learnt a great
deal about their actual culture and I hope they did too.
                                                                                    - Dhiimahee
My task in the group was to be a compiler and I contributed to the group in editing and recording
videos. I served as the group's creative hub, wielding editing magic on videos, bridging
communication gaps with exchange students, and crafting the perfect scene - from location
scouting to choreographing sitcom magic and crafting a captivating intro video.
My most memorable learning experience was when we all met for both the introduction video,
getting to know more about not just ourselves but our compatibility with each other as a group
and realising how good we are as a team. What we learnt further was what we could achieve as a
team, the competency skill I gained with it was the capability of handling tasks and assignments
together as well as submitting them on time with respect to punctuality with the teachers.
It was truly heartening to witness the seamless synergy within our team. Each member brought a
plethora of innovative ideas to the table, enriching the project and propelling it towards
excellence. Our partner-school mirrored our enthusiasm, demonstrating an exemplary level of
collaboration and dedication. This collective spirit undoubtedly proved to be the cornerstone of
our success.
Immersing myself in their way of life has revealed fascinating contrasts between our cultures,
particularly in the realm of weddings. Dutch ceremonies unfold as a procession of essential
rituals, marked by a delightful intimacy as they celebrate with a close circle of friends. In
contrast, Indian weddings burst with vibrant traditions and an expansive guest list, reflecting the
deep-rooted emphasis on community and familial bonds. While the scale and customs may
differ, both approaches capture the universal essence of joy and unity as loved ones embark on
this momentous chapter.
