SONOGRAPHY CAREERS 1

Abstract

A sonographer uses ultrasound technology to get images of people’s organs as well as babies in

utero. Sonographers can work in hospitals, clinics, and even labs. Experts estimate that there will

be about 12,000 new jobs for sonographers from 2022 to 2032; this reflects the rising demand for

this job. There are currently 1,400 active licensed sonographers that work in Minnesota.

Additionally, the average sonographer in Minnesota can make anywhere from 50 to 70 dollars an

hour. Sonography is a salary-based occupation that is set based on your skill level as well as

where you work.

Additionally, People can specialize in many types of sonography. These specialties can include

general sonography, and pediatrics which involves only working with children. You can even

decide you want to work with one specific part of the body like blood vessels so you could

specialize in vascular sonography. To become a sonographer, a person needs two to six years of

schooling, this can be an associate or a bachelor's degree. Being a sonographer can be

challenging at times no matter what people decide to specialize in but can also be rewarding as

well. Sonographers do a lot more than just give pregnant women ultrasounds this includes

helping doctors with diagnosing a disease or even catching one.
