Pattern Details

Size:
8 inches from bottom to top of head with weight 6 yarn and a 3.75 mm hook

Skill Level Needed:


Intermediate- suitable for novice crocheters, requires patience and precisions when assembling
the seal and basic crochet skills.

Materials Needed:
Yarn: Worsted Weight #6, approximately 75g of main color
Color A: Body Color
Hook Size: F hook or 3.75 mm
20 mm safety eyes, 15 mm safety nose
Scissors, sewing needle, stitch marker, fiberfill stuffing

Abbreviations:
mr= magic ring- crochet single crochet stitches in to the
adjustable loop BLO= back loops only
ch= chain stitch F/O= Fasten off
sc= single crochet stitch hdc= half double crochet
sl= slip stitch FLO= front loops only
dc= double crochet stitch inc3= 3 sc in the same stitch
inc= increase- make two single crochet stitches in the same stitch
dec=decrease- crochet two stitches together using the decrease method
(4 sc, inc) x 6= repeat the pattern between parentheses 6 times

Notes:
• Do not join rounds unless stated, work in a continuous spiral
• Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round
• All stitches are worked in both loops unless stated otherwise in the pattern

Head and Body:
Crocheted from top of head to bottom
With Color A:
1. Make 6 sc into a magic ring= 6
2. Increase in each st around= 12
3. (sc, inc) x 6= 18
4-5. sc in each st around
Place eyes between rounds 5 and 6 with 6 holes between them.
The 1st eye will be placed over the 3rd increase in round 6. Count 6 holes away from the 1st eye
and place the 2nd eye.
6. inc x 3, 4 sc, inc x 3, 8 sc= 24
7. sc in each st around
8. dec x 3, 4 sc, dec x 3, 8 sc= 18
Place safety nose in between rounds 6 and 7, between the eyes.
9. (sc, dec) x 6= 12
Start stuffing the head
10. (sc, inc) x 6= 18
Now you will make the flippers:
11. sc, Flipper: (ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in last ch), 6 sc,
Flipper, 8 sc
12. (2 sc, inc) x 6= 24
Stuff the body as you work
13. sc in each st around
14. (3 sc, inc) x 6= 30
15-17. sc in each st around
18. (3 sc, dec) x 6= 24
19. sc in each st around
20. (2 sc, dec) x 6= 18
21. sc in each st around
22. (sc, dec) x 6= 12
23. (2 sc, dec) x 3= 9
24. (sc, dec) x 3= 6
Sc the opening closed= 3
Do not F/O!
You will be making the bottom flippers now:
Ch 6
Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in last ch
Sl st in next 2 stitches
Ch 6
Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in last ch
F/O and weave in any tail ends.

Helpful Tips:
Exact Colors Used:
1. Body Color: Premier Bloom Bluebell

You can use different eye sizes. You might have to adjust the placements if you change the
sizes.

You can use different hook sizes and weights of yarn. It will just change the size of your seal and
you might need to adjust eye and nose placement.

How you stuff matters! The type of stuffing you use, how you stuff, all this matters on how your
seal turns out. I prefer Polyfil stuffing but you can use other types.
