MDQ Bipolar Disorder Assessment

The Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) is a screening tool for bipolar disorder. It consists of 15 yes or no questions about symptoms experienced during elevated mood periods, including increased energy, decreased need for sleep, racing thoughts, distractibility, and risky behaviors. Respondents are asked if they experienced several symptoms simultaneously and to rate the level of problem caused by any symptoms. A positive screen is indicated by experiencing numerous symptoms simultaneously or symptoms causing moderate or serious problems.
