SUB: OFFER FOR STP 15 KLD IN MBBR TECHNOLOGY

Dear Sir,
We thank you for your enquiry about the above project for treatment of sewage water. We
wish to introduce ourselves as one of the leading companies in the design, supply, erection
and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment systems. Our focus has been to
understand the customer requirements, offer the most appropriate solutions at a reasonable
price.
Kelvin specializes in the manufacture of Ecological wastewater treatment products for both
commercial and industrial markets. Kelvin’s range of quality products provides fast
installation, requires minimal maintenance and is low impact with an extremely small
footprint. They also fulfill all present and proposed discharge standards enforced by the
State Pollution Boards.
We, KELVIN Engineers “are using the latest MBBR technology with the High-
Performance fixed film media for MBBR reactor and tube settler media for Secondary
Tube Settler that has remained at the forefront of sewage and industrial wastewater
treatment. The MBBR Media has been proven to be superior to any known bio media, and
can handle pH variation, shock loading, cold temperature, and drastically reduce plant size.
The MBBR Media has proven to stabilize most wastewater plants and is used on a global
scale to retrofit and customize new and old WWTP's with great success.

ANNEXURE-I: SALIENT FEATURES OF OUR OFFER
1. We will be providing the high quality MBBR & Tube settler media of best quality, thus
preventing algae formation.
2. Our emphasis has always been on quality so that the system provided should have the
least recurring maintenance costs.
3. We have tie-up with Govt. approved state of the art water analysis laboratory under the
supervision of highly qualified professionals. This enables us to check the stage wise
performance parameters of the plant.
4. We will be providing the coarse bubble or fine bubble membrane diffuser of silicon in
reactor.
5. We are providing standby arrangement for rotating equipment with additional cost.

ANNEXURE-II: INTRODUCTION
• The sewage generated from domestic use, toilet, canteen and floor wash. The waste
shall be treated in the Sewage Treatment Plant.
• Keeping in view of the site requirements, it has been decided to have sewage treatment
plants of capacity 15 KLD.
• The present offer is for design, supply, erection, and installation, commissioning and
testing of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of capacity 15 KLD with all interconnecting
piping works, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation works etc. as per the scope of
supply excluding the civil works for treatment of the effluent so as bring down the
values of all the parameters in the treated sewage water within the permissible norms
fixed by State Pollution Control Board.
• A sewage treatment plant has been designed based on updated technology incorporating
MBBR technology. The treated sewage water shall be used for arboriculture/golf
ground or other selective usage.

ANNEXURE-III: ADVANTAGES COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL

BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES
In general, the main advantages shown by the MBBR process compared to conventional
biological processes are:
• A reduction in the volume of the biological reactor because it uses a support or carrier
that gives a high specific surface.
• It does not require reactor biomass recirculation – This gives rise to the fact that the
biomass does not depend on the final separation of the sludge and therefore typical
problem found in conventional activated sludge processes related to the sedimentation
properties of the sludge (filamentous bulking, etc.).
STP 15 KLD MBBR WITH UF
• The operation and control are simple for this type of process. On the one hand the
process avoids blockage problems and consequently regular cleaning period, in addition
it is not necessary to control the sludge purging since the system keeps the biomass in
the reactor until it comes off the support.

ANNEXURE-IV: QUANTITY OF SEWAGE WATER

The number of hours to calculate the average flow has been taken as 20 hours to ensure
nearly continuous operation for the MBBR reactor. The peak factor of 2.0 has been
considered to calculate the peak flow.

S.N. TYPE OF INFLUENT QUANTITY

a. WASTEWATER (SEWAGE) 15 m3/day
b. AVERAGE FLOW 0.75 m3/hour
c. PEAK FLOW 1.5 m3 /hour

ANNEXURE-V: RAW SEWAGE WATER AND TREATED WATER

CHARACTERISTICS

The characteristics of the raw sewage water and treated water sewage are given below:

S.N. PARAMETER UNIT INLET VALUE OUTLET

1. pH - 6.5 – 8.5 6.0-8.0
2. COD mg/l 600-800 < 100
3. BOD5 @ 20 °C mg/l 300-600 < 20
4. TSS mg/l 200-150 < 10
5. Oil & Grease mg/l 75 <5

ANNEXURE VI: TREATMENT SCHEME

The STP is of modular construction and the treatment process will consist of four stages.
Stage 1: Primary Treatment
Screen Chamber, Oil & Grease Trap, Equalization Tank

Stage 2: Secondary or biological treatment

MBBR Tank, Tube Settler Tank
STP 15 KLD MBBR WITH UF
Stage 3: Tertiary treatment
Filter feed tank, Hypo Dosing System, Multi-grade Filter & Activated Carbon Filter.

Stage 4: Sludge Treatment

Filter Press.

ANNEXURE-VII: BRIEF PROCESS DESCRIPTION

1. PRIMARY TREATMENT:
The sewage will be collected in the sewage collection cum pumping sump after flowing
through the screen Chamber & oil & grease tank for remove any floating matter and to trap
the floating debris, if any. The collection tank helps to have a consistent flow of sewerage
for the STP plant. Collection tank will be kept aerated by coarse air diffusers to avoid foul
smell. The sewage is pumped to Inlet Chamber provided with Fine bar screen for removal
of fine suspended solids from there it is passed on to Grit channel for removal of grit in the
wastewater thus increasing the efficiency of MBBR reactor. Overflow of Grit channel by
gravity goes to MBBR reactor.

2. SECONDARY BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT:

In MBBR reactor plastic media are provided for attachment of bacteria. This media has a
high void age ratio of more than 98% & high surface area 400 m2/m3 which increases more
contact time bacteria to organic matter i.e. BOD. The bacteria oxidize organic matter to
CO2& H2O by the aeration principle. Inside the reactor Fine bubble membrane diffusers
will provide mixing and oxygen for bacteria. In MBBR reactor dissolved oxygen level will
be maintained at 2 mg/lit. Twin-Lobe Blowers are provided for aeration. The biological
system must be operated continuously 24 hours a day and therefore constant feed of
wastewater is required.

The secondary clarifier/tube settler, which is designed on low overflow rate, is provided
after the MBBR reactor to enable separation of solids. A steep slope is provided in the
secondary settling tank to eliminate the need for scrapper mechanism. A part of the sludge
is re-circulated to the MBBR reactor to maintain MLSS levels and a part is drained to the
sludge drying beds. Acclimatized Bacterial Culture will be added into the MBBR reactor
to give the advantages as mentioned in the salient points of our offer.

3. TERTIARY TREATMENT:
The sewage water is given a shot of chlorine dosing for disinfection. The sewage water
will be further passed through tertiary treatment comprising of filtration with Pressure sand
filter and activated carbon filter for removal of micro-suspensions, color, and odor. The
treated sewage water will discharge to irrigation and for gardening.
