Draw the projections of the following lines:
Case 1.Line parallel to both HP and VP
Ques.1 A line AB, 50mm long has its end A 30mm away from the HP and 20mm away from the
VP. The line is parallel to both HP and VP. Draw its projections in all the four quadrants.

Case 1.Plane parallel to H.P and perpendicular to V.P.
Q.1 A square lamina ABCD of 30mm side is parallel to H.P. and is 15mm from it. One of its
side is 10 mm infront of V.P. Draw its projections in first quadrant.
Q.2 A regular hexagonal lamina, of side 25mm,rests on H.P. such that one of its sides is
perpendicular to V.P. Centre of the plane is 40mm infront of V.P. Draw its projections in first
quadrant.
Q.3 A regular hexagonal lamina of side 25mm is parallel to H.P. and 15mm from it. Draw its
projections when a side is inclined at 45° to the V.P.
Q.4 An equilateral triangle of side 30mm is lying on the H.P. It is placed in such a way that one
of the corners of the triangle is 15mm infront of the V.P. and the side containing that corner is

Q.1 Draw a regular hexagon of 25mm side in the top view, keeping one of its base edges
perpendicular to xy. Through the centre O , project the apex or vertex O’,50mm from xy.
Q.2 Draw the projections of pentagonal prism of 25mm base edge in the top view, with a base
edge 5-1 inclined at 30° to xy.Take axis height 60mm.
Q.3 A right regular pentagonal pyramid, edge of base 25 mm and height 60mm long, having one
of its base edges perpendicular to V.P., with its axis perpendicular to H.P. Draw the three views
of the pyramid.
Q.4 A cube of 35mm edge is resting on the H.P. on one of its faces, with a vertical face inclined

Q.1 A cube of 40mm edge is resting on one of its face on HP with a vertical face inclined to 30°
to V.P. It is cut by a section plane parallel to the VP and passes 15mm away from the axis. Draw
its sectional top view, sectional front view and sectional side view.
Case 2. Section plane parallel to V.P. perpendicular to H.P.
Q.2 A pentagonal pyramid of 30 mm base edges and axis 70 mm long ,resting on its base on the
HP having a side of base perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane parallel to HP and
bisecting it’s axis. Draw its sectional top view, sectional front view and sectional side view.
Case 3. Section plane inclined to H.P. perpendicular to V.P.
Q.3 A cylinder of 45 mm diameter and 60 mm long is resting on its base on HP. It is cut by a
section plane inclined at 60° with HP and perpendicular to VP passing through a point on the
axis 15 mm from its top end. Draw its sectional top view, sectional front view, sectional side
view and true shape of section. Also calculate area of true shape of section.
Case 4. Section plane inclined to V.P. perpendicular to H.P.
Q.4 A regular hexagonal pyramid having base side 30mm and axis 60mm is resting on H.P with
its base on it. One of its base side is parallel to V.P. and 10mm infront of it. It is cut by a section
plane 10mm away from its axis and towards observer. Sectioning plane is perpendicular to H.P.
and inclined to V.P at 30°.Draw its sectional front view, sectional top view, sectional side view
and true shape of section. Also calculate area of true shape of section.
Case 5. Section plane perpendicular to both V.P & H.P.
Q.5 A right circular cone, diameter of base 50mm, axis 50mm long, rests on its base on H.P. A
section plane perpendicular to both H.P. and V.P. cuts the cone and 10mm away from the axis.

TYPE-1-PRISMS (Parallel Line Method)
Q.1 A pentagonal prism of 25mm base edges and 50mm long, resting on its base with an edge of
base at 45° to the VP. The prism is cut by a section plane inclined at 30° to the HP and passes
through a point 25mm from the base along its axis. Develop the lateral surface of the truncated
prism.
Q.2 A right regular hexagonal prism of side 30 mm and 60 mm height is resting on its base on
HP having one of its base edges perpendicular to the VP. A cutting plane inclined to HP at 30°
and perpendicular to the VP cuts its axis at a distance of 36 mm from the base. Develop the
lateral surface of the truncated prism.

Q.3 A right cylinder of 30 mm diameter and 35 mm height of axis, is cut by a section plane
inclined at 30° to the HP and passes 18 mm from base along the axis. Draw the development of
the truncated cylinder.

Q.5 A pentagon pyramid of 25 mm base edges and 50 mm long, resting on H.P with an edge of
base at 45° to the VP. The pyramid is cut by a section plane inclined at 30° to the HP and passes
through a point 25 mm from the base along its axis. Develop its lateral surface.
Q.6 A circular cone of 25 mm base radius and 60 mm axis length, resting on its base on H.P. The
pyramid is cut by a section plane inclined at 45° to the HP and passes through a point 25 mm
