Job Description

Title: PLC/Automation Engineer


Reporting Line: Chief Operations Officer

Candidate:
This role is suited to a PLC, Automation or Computer Engineer who has a strong demonstrable
PLC background, strong interpersonal skills and can also demonstrate excellent skills in problem
solving and analysis with a keen eye for PLC coding.

This position will expose the candidate to many aspects of PLC code development must therefore
demonstrate an aptitude and enthusiasm for the design, ongoing development, installation and
support of EMR’s solutions. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a methodical, logical and
consistent approach to design and deployment processes.

The candidate should possess excellent customer facing skills, and work well under pressure,
demonstrating a professional manner, with an ability to identify and focus on customer needs,
during the design, deployment and ongoing support of EMR’s solutions.

Overview of Role:
The role is predominately office based with some requirement to attend site during deployment
and commissioning phases. The major part of this role required PLC programming with front end
SCADA development. This role involves a great deal of communication with the client during the
functional development and requirements capture stage and also post acceptance queries.
Responsibilities:

 Create software design specifications and associated documentation for solution


 Development of PLC code in line with ISO procedures and defined standards
 Develop and manage GAMP documentation e.g. URS, FDS, DDS, FAT, SAT, IOPQ
etc
 Liaising with other Engineers on implementation SCADA software.
 Use of PLC programming software for Schneider, Allen Bradley, Siemens,
Mitsubishi & Motorola PLCs/RTUs.
 Training of clients on the use of application once implemented.
 Maintain a consistency of the quality throughout all projects.
 Ability to work to deadlines.
 Maintenance of projects once implemented.
 General all round Housekeeping of all PLC development projects.

Technical Skills
 Minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience in PLC solutions with a min of 2 of
the following (Schneider, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi or Motorola)
 Demonstrable experience in controls systems design and application
 SCADA – Ignition, Citect, InTouch or similar
 Knowledge of all Microsoft office applications
 Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Database Manager.
 Networks: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, DeviceNet, ControlNet

Interpersonal Skills
 Well-developed formal and oral communication and reporting skills to all levels in
an organisation. Highly organised work approach within a multi-tasking
environment
Other Requirements
 Full Driver’s License
