ABSTRACT
Most research on business relationships and networks concentrates on social bonds, such as trust
and commitment. Little research considers technical bonds and how they interact with social
bonds within a relationship. Thus, this research investigates how technical bonds of information
technology link with social bonds in the relationship between two organizations in a business
system, in particular, between a franchisor and franchisees within a franchise system. First, a
conceptual framework of the structure of a relationship between business alliance partners was
synthesized from the business- to-business marketing literature. Then Australian franchisors
were surveyed about the effects of their investments in information technology upon their
franchisor-franchisee relationship. Structural equation modelling techniques were used to
analyses the data. The results provided support for the conceptual framework, with the
franchisor’s increased technical competence from information technology improving the social
bonds in a relationship but those bonds being secondary to further technical investment. An
implication for managers is that investments in information technology operate through the
social bonds within their business.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Due to the demand for Manufacturing, a growing number of steel sheet-cutting machines have
been put into production. Now let's take a brief view over the history of its development.
Steel sheet cutting machine is a professional equipment for sheet material cutting, it can
achieve a highly efficient and elaborate cutting effect automatically with three basic elements
initiative, high rate, and elaboration. The universal type of steel sheet cutting machine is widely
used in the fields of electric machinery, electrical appliances, aeronautics, automobile, farm
machinery, instruments & meters, medical apparatus and instruments, home appliances,
hardware, etc...
The forging machine is the equipment used for forming and separation during the forging
process. In the year of 1842, British engineer Smith created the first steam hammer, which is
deemed to be the start of a steam-power machine forging age. In 1795, the British man Bramah
created hydro press, but not until the middle of the 19th Century did it apply to cast and the
creation of motor due to the demand for large forgings. At the end of the 19th Century, the
automatic steel sheet cutting machine and the pneumatic hammer which were powered by
electricity began to emerge and grew rapidly. The forging machine altered the tendency from
heavy and large type in the first of the 19th century. to the direction of development on high-
rate, efficient, initiative, elaborate, specialized, multiple turns out, etc..
The steel sheet-cutting machine has developed itself a lot since the 1960s, the number of
strokes per minute has increased to be around 3 thousand times from a few hundred. The
capacity has developed from 10 tons to a hundred. Nowadays the steel sheet cutting machine
has been mainly applied in the field of electronics, instruments & meters, light industry,
automobile, etc. to lead an exceptionally large punching production. In these years, along with
the technical development of modeling and punching, the steel sheet cutting machine has kept
expanding its applying field thus increasing its quantity. As we could tell it will not be long
before the steel sheet cutting machine would account for an increasingly big amount in the
punching steel sheet cutting machine industry.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
In Ghana, Africa as a whole most of the metal and wood workers cut their workpiece in the
olden or the traditional way by using their own physical strength. And we have realized that
there are several advantages of using and electric cutting machine for wood and metal
Inefficiencies: in Manual Labour: Manual metal cutting processes are time- consuming
and labor-intensive, leading to decreased productivity and increased costs for industrial
operations.
Outdated Machinery: Existing metal cutting machinery often lacks precision and
efficiency, resulting in suboptimal cutting quality and higher material wastage.
Safety Concerns: Traditional metal cutting methods pose significant safety risks to
operators due to the use of sharp tools and heavy machinery, necessitating the
development of a safer alternative solution.
1.3 OBJECTIVES
MAIN OBJECTIVE: To design ,develop and implement an electric metal cutting machine that
provides an efficient and environmentally friendly mode of service
SUB OBJECTIVES
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of existing metal cutting technologies and their
limitations.
• Conduct market research to identify specific needs and requirements of industrial
metalworking operations.
• Design a conceptual blueprint for the electric metal cutting machine, integrating advanced
features for precision cutting and user safety.
• Select appropriate materials and components for the construction of the machine,
considering factors such as durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.
2
AIM OF STUDIES
The primary aim of an electric cutting machine is to improve the productivity and efficiency in
the workplace. By automating the cutting process, electric cutting machines can increase the
speed and accuracy of cutting operations. This allows workers to spend less time cutting and
more time on other tasks, which leads to increase productivity
Additionally, electric cutting machines reduce waste and minimize the risk of errors, leading to
improved quality
SIGNIFICANCE OF WORK
In the context of the proposed project on the design and fabrication of an electric metal cutting
machine, the significance of work encompasses the potential impact and benefits that the
project aims to achieve in various aspects. This includes factors such as productivity
improvements, precision enhancements, safety advancements, environmental considerations,
and technological innovation within the metalworking industry.
1. 1. Enhance Productivity: By automating the metal cutting process, the electric machine will
significantly increase productivity by reducing manual labor and cutting time, allowing industrial
operations to meet deadline more effectively
2. Free Improved Precision: The electric metal cutting machine will offer high levels of precision and
accuracy compared to manual methods, resulting in better quality cuts and minimizing material
wastage, ultimately leading to cost savings for manufacturers
3. Enhanced Safety: Implementing an electric cutting machine will mitigate safety risks associated
with manual metal cutting, reducing the likelihood of accidents and injuries in industrial settings,
thus ensuring a safer work environment for operators.
4. Environmental Benefits: By optimizing the metal cutting process and minimizing material
wastage, the electric machine will contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing resource
consumption and minimizing the generation of metal scrap and waste.
5. Technological Advancement: The development of an electric metal cutting machine represents a
significant technological advancement in the field of metalworking, showcasing innovation and
fostering progress in industrial automation and machinery design

METHODOLOGY
When it comes to electric cutting machines, the methodology usually involves using a sharp blade or a
rotating tool powered by electricity to cut through various materials. These machines can be used in
industries like manufacturing, construction, and even for DIY projects.
How does the rotary tool work? The rotating tool in an electric cutting machine typically works by using
a motor to spin a blade or a cutting disc at high speeds. The motor is powered by electricity, which
provides the energy needed to rotate the tool. As the tool spins, it cuts through the material with
precision and efficiency. It's like having a supercharged saw that makes quick work of cutting tasks.
The reason for using aluminum metal for the construction of our electric cutting machine is because;
Aluminum is lightweight, which makes the machine easier to handle and maneuver. It also has good
conductivity, so it helps with heat dissipation, keeping the machine cool during operation. Additionally,
aluminum is resistant to corrosion, which can prolong the lifespan of the cutting machine. So, it's a great
choice for ensuring durability and efficiency.
