Regeneracion

1. The document provides information about operating and maintaining the regeneration-controlled diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. 2. It explains that the DPF collects exhaust soot and regenerates automatically while driving, but may require manual regeneration denoted by the flashing indicator lamp. 3. When the indicator lamp flashes, the driver must park and manually initiate regeneration by pressing the DPF cleaning switch, which takes around 20 minutes to complete.

Handlin"°, the Regeneration-Controlled

Diesel Particulate •Filter System

_......,..,._~------~
Please read this information before using your vehicle for the first time.
Also refer to the Owner’s Handbook for more details about the system.
The regeneration-controlled diesel particulate filter (DPF) system under certain conditions, such as when the vehicle is driven
collects soot (particulate matter) contained in exhaust gas with a slowly or in case of frequent stop-start driving. In this case, you
ceramic filter incorporated in the muffler. When the DPF has must park the vehicle and manually initiate regeneration of the
collected more soot than the limit, the soot is automatically burnt filter (parked DPF regeneration). When this becomes necessary,
off to regenerate the filter while driving (automatic DPF regenera- the indicator lamp will flash; park the vehicle in a safe place
tion). However, automatic regeneration may not be completed and perform the parked DPF regeneration.

1 Multi information display

You can check how much soot has accumulated in the DPF and the condition of the DPF
system on the DPF LEVEL screen by using the DPF monitor function of the multi-information

display. You should check the amount of soot regularly and perform parked DPF regenera- DPF 11111
tion in accordance with the indications of the indicator lamp to ensure trouble-free
operation of your vehicle.

Parked DPF regeneration can be performed when the indicator lamp is flashing.

CAUTION Stop the vehicle in a place without dry grass, waste-

paper, or other flammable materials while the DPF is being regenerated auto-
matically or the DPF is to be regenerated manually. Such materials can easily
catch fire as the exhaust pipe, muffler, and other nearby components are
extremely hot, as is the exhaust gas. To prevent burns, avoid touching any of
these hot components, and keep clear of the exhaust gas.

When the indicator lamp is on DPF automatic regeneration is in progress.

Although you may notice an unusual engine sound and unusually varying idling speed while stopped in this condition, you do not
need to do anything special; simply use the vehicle as usual.

When the indicator lamp is flashing The DPF needs to be manually regenerated.
Parked DPF regeneration will normally be completed in about 20 minutes, but the time varies with the amount of soot accumulated
and the outside air temperature. Also, the flashing interval of the lamp varies according to the amount of soot. The slower flashing
calls for parked regeneration at any convenient point within the specified distance or time but the faster flashing prompts you to
perform it without delay.

When the indicator lamp is flashing slowly (at about 0.5-second intervals)
Within the next 50 km of driving or 1 hour, stop the vehicle in a safe place and perform parked DPF regeneration. If using the
PTO,parked regeneration should be performed within 4 hours at most. However, the above driving distance or operation time
may vary according to the conditions in which the vehicle is used. Therefore, perform parked regeneration immediately whenever
the indicator lamp starts to flash at the shorter interval.

WARNING Do not perform parked DPF regeneration in a poorly ventilated place. In a confined place such as a garage or indoor
area, there is a high risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if the exhaust gas fills the space.

CAUTION Do not perform parked DPF regeneration in any of the following conditions or places:
Side gates or a tail gate is opened – Peripheral components may be damaged by the heat of the muffler.
Painted roads – Hot exhaust gas can discolor painted road surfaces.
Areas close to hedges – Plants may be scorched by the hot exhaust gas.

Firmly apply the parking brake and place the gearshift
lever in the neutral position.

3 Disengage the PTO if it is used.

4 Press the DPF cleaning switch until the indicator lamp

stops flashing and stays lit. DPF regeneration will start.
DPF regeneration will normally be completed in about 20
minutes and the indicator lamp will then go out, DPF cleaning switch

indicating that the process has ended.

3 If the ENG SYS lights

If the ENG SYS indication lights on the multi-information display while driving, the DPF may be clogged or there may be a problem
with the regeneration-controlled DPF system. Have your vehicle inspected by an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer
immediately.

CAUTION •
Under certain conditions, the engine power will be limited when the warning lamp is lit.
Continuing to operate the vehicle with the warning lamp lit may lead to a failure. If the warning lamp comes on,
immediately have the vehicle inspected by an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer.

4 Checking the engine oil level

Check the engine oil level using the oil level gauge every time you perform daily/pre-operation inspection.

CAUTION Be sure to use the following oil to ensure that the DPF performs well for a long time.
