This pattern uses a shell/trellis stitch pattern to create a top-down shawl. The shawl increases in size through repeating rows of shells and arches worked into single crochet stitches. A stitch marker is used to mark the center point as the shawl grows outward in both directions from the center.

ABOUT THE SHELL/TRELLIS PATTERN
USED FOR THIS SHAWL
• Except for the very first and very last
row all rows are made up of arches of
ch­5's and Shells as an alternative to
such an arch.
• Every odd row will start with a
Starting­Shell and end with an Ending­
Shell.
• In even rows you will just work
arches.
• Except for the last row you will skip all
dc's.
• Every sc will either be skipped with an
Arch or you will work a shell into it.

GAUGE
4 x 4 in [10 x 10 cm] = 19 sts x 10 rows

• 1.75 balls (175g = 735m) Scheepjes Our
Tribe (70% Merino, 30% Polyamid; ca.
100g/420m) in colorway "967 Simy"
• Crochet Hook Size 6 mm / J
• 1 stitch marker
