About Central University of Gujarat (CUG)

CUG Established by Parliament of India through the Central Universities Act (2009), CUG
located in the picturesque green & clean city of Gandhinagar of Gujarat State. University
considers its main objectives to be dissemination and advancement of knowledge creation

About CSRE and SoE

The CSRE under the SoE was established in the year 2017. It offers M.Ed. and Ph.D.
programmes in education. These programmes aim to equip students with the requisite
academic and professional skills and competencies in education in general and specifically in
teacher education. The courses offered CSRE aim at helping the students to explore the most
challenging and exciting questions in educational research, policy, and practice and enable
them to shape the future world with the transformative power of education. It would prepare
experienced teacher educators for performing various roles in academia, schools, non-profit
organizations (NGOs), government organisations, and beyond. The centre and school is
committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across the curriculum, in our
classrooms and in our campus culture.

About Research Methodology Course (RMC)

The continuous improvement and maintenance the standard of quality research is a key
concern in higher education in India. Bringing high quality in research needs sound knowledge
and understanding of research methodology. It is imperative for the researchers to
understand research methodology and various applications of contemporary qualitative and
quantitative techniques for conducting research. Research methodology courses for the
researchers are meant to impart and train them with theoretical and practical knowledge of
research framework resulting in better opportunities for producing substantial and impactful
research outputs in concerned areas. Through this RMC, CSRE SoE., Central University of
Gujarat aims to prove wide opportunities for social science researchers’ for improving
practical knowledge in research methodology, qualitative data analysis, and quantitative data
analysis skills using statistical software.

Objectives of the RMC

The objectives of the course are to-
• develop among participants a comprehensive understanding towards application of
scientific research methodology.
• provide an overview of the concepts and theories of research methodology used in
scientific research (Quantitative and Qualitative).
• get exposure of various research methods, and their process and step involved in
research.
• develop scientific understanding among the researchers about different tools and
techniques of a research connecting it with their on-going research.
• provide hands on training to the participants about use of statistical techniques in data
analysis using SPSS and other statistical software in the field of social sciences.
• strengthen knowledge among researchers regarding qualitative data analysis
technique.
• enhance the analytical skills among researchers for writing research reports.
Topics to be covered in the RMC
• Research concept, types, steps, and review of related literatures.
• Variables, objectives and hypothesis.
 • Population, Sampling and research tools.
• Quantitative and Qualitative research and types.
• Para-metric and non-parametric test in research.
• Physical experience through field visit of INFLIBNET, Gandhinagar.
• Qualitative data analysis and triangulation.
• Research proposal.
• APA style of report writing and referencing.
• Research reports and publication ethics.

Expected Outcomes of the RMC

After completion of the course the researcher will be able to -
• explore thrust areas of research leads to the sense of inquiry and capability of
research.
• identify various sources of the research problem.
• recognize various sources and applications of review of related literature.
• demonstrate and applying skills and competencies of various research methods and
process of research.
• identify and label different types of variables.
• formulate research objectives and hypothesis.
• develop an efficient research-design based on identified variables.
• justify sample and sampling techniques in research.
• identify and select appropriate research tools and techniques.
• demonstrate statistical calculations and interpretation of results.
• exposure to INFLIBNET and its services through field visit.
• communicate the research clearly and precisely through research proposal, report
and publications.
• demonstrate reference writing skill in different style.
• inculcate research and publication ethics.

Eligibility Criteria
The course is meant for only research scholars currently pursuing their M.Phil.-Ph.D./
Ph.D./PDF in social sciences disciplines in UGC recognized Universities and research institutes
across India are eligible to apply.

Intake
The intake for the course shall be maximum of 30 (10 from local, 10 from Gujarat state other than
local, and 10 from outside the Gujarat state) participants from social science disciplines.

Please Note:
1. Those who have already attended any such program sponsored by ICSSR or any other
sponsored organization should not apply.
2. The selection to the course will be made as per ICSSR guidelines.
3. No leave of any kind is permissible during the course period.
 4. Personal laptop with your own internet connectivity is compulsory.

Registration Fees: There is no registration fee for the selected participants.

Accommodation & Travel Allowance

• Accommodation will be provided to the outstation participants only.
• Breakfast, Lunch and refreshments for all participants will be served.
• Travel allowance by the shortest distance will be reimbursed to the outstation
participants only as per the ICSSR guidelines and subject to the production of original
ticket(s) of Train (second /sleeper class) or regular Bus fare subject to a maximum of
Rs. 1000/- per participant (to and fro). No local conveyance would be reimbursed.

original registration form should be produced on the first day of RMC) and the scanned copy

The nearest railway station from Central University of Gujarat, Sector 29 Campus is
Gandhinagar Capital (GNC) and the second nearest railway station is Ahmedabad (ADI)
Junction (Kalupur railway station) nearly 28 km from Kalupur railway station to Gandhinagar
